It's a less labor intensive way of making money than actually working. This is truly, one of the most asinine statements I've ever read. I spent six years in college, learning from the likes of Bill Burroughs and Ken Kesey, to spend more time working on one publication than I ever did slinging grea...

But its entertainment not educating people or protecting them, or building shelters for them to live in or making food for them to eat. ... Nope, I don't think "the arts" should be treated like things that are more necessary I agree that "the arts" are not "more necessary"... but I believe that the...

It's ridiculous how much these people are raking in for doing silly things. I agree with this wholeheartedly... but it, nor any other of the points given, chance the fact that taking "intellectual property" without payment is stealing. (for reference, I'm not pointing the following at any one perso...

I think musicians should do it because they want to share their talent, spread some sort of message or something...not for money. The same goes for computer programmers, sandwich artists, carpenters, police officers, oh, and teachers. Don't blame Robert Smith for being rich. The fault lies with the...

I agree with Synthpopalooza fully. I ran a web-cast four years ago and even had written persmission from the record label to play an entire album by a single artist... but the RIAA had my account closed. it was bunk no one is stealing anything. this is something i've never understood about this whol...

recording off the radio is actually illegal, but the record companies have never done anything about it because the quality of the signal has not come even remotely close to the source material.... and also because radio also tends to play "singles" and people tend to download entire albums. Also, i...

Although I think the RIAA is barking up the wrong tree with their warrants, truth is, folks downloading MP3's without the copyright holder's permission are stealing. I support the use of Napster, Kazaa, and the like as a great promotional tool for bands... lord knows I've downloaded enough music in ...

Ah hell, I've seen references to this new album but I thought it was just talk on a re-issue. To be honest, I'm not a fan of their later works... so tell me, is this more of that... or does it harken back to the days of old? I'm going to have to search this one out and I'd rather not be let down. (o...

Throbbing Gristle Live in 2004
I realize that it's doubtful that this post is of interest as the event is to take place in England but... I've already purchased my ticket and there might be, on the off chance, someone else freakish enough to travel for this. May 14-16, 2004 Throbbing Gristle to re-unite for a one-off show also pe...

okay... now i really did mean the coolest "deathrock" album.... I'm a twenty year record collector and you've invoked the "record war" with your list.... I've over 3000 LPs in my collection, 1500 × 12", 2 × 11", 200 × 10", and 1500 × 7" My roots are in punk, starting in 1981 Just my Misfits (all ori...

We probably know each other. It's possible. I didn't really hang out with any knoxgoths, not because they were goths but cuz my friend quota was pretty much full. I'd usually go to the Merc with a girlfriend (either Jetta Boon, Laura Raymer, Heather Fielden, Holly McCort, or Amy Mack... depending o...

Niftiest Record In The Collection?
I'm a complete junkie for recorded music and I was just wonderin' what you folks would view to be the s'wellest deathrock/goth/industrial record you've got. For me it's a tie: Rose McDowall - Don't Fear The Reaper 12" ('88 - just gotta love Rosie singin' BöC) The Cure - Grinding Halt promo only 12" ...

I remember Kate having a pair of boots my girlfriend, at the time, wanted and she, for some unknown reason, wouldn't sell them. Then when Kate sold the store to Jetta I got the boots... but then didn't give them to the ex cuz I was dating Jetta and had no interest in parting with 'em... I just wante...

I had never really checked in to Virgin Prunes, probably because I wasn't real crazy about Sons Find Devils. Sons Find Devils is not a good album to judge them by, they were definately a better studio band. ...If I Die, I Die is their classic deathrock album(more of the Cindytalk vein rather than t...

Have you tried ebay? Oh yes, but I'm not willing to pay $70 on the secondary market. I'd much prefer to have a cd-r copy until the official re-release comes out... which is on it's way to me thanks to a friend in San Francisco. "...If I Die, I Die" is the only Virgin Prunes/Gavin Friday I'm lacking...
