I think Gore or Kerry would have done a much better job than Bush. Even if they are the lesser of the evils, even if they have done stupid stuff in the past like claiming to invent the internet. I love Gore's environmental stance and I think Kerry would have started bringing the troops home. I don't know how anyone can support this war and the senseless deaths of all the soldiers.
Even if you guys don't do presidential elections, please, everyone, get off your lazy apathetic asses and go vote on November 7. Lets get the republicans out of there. Everyday news only proves how corrupt they are (yes all politicians are but I think some are less).
Also, if you haven't read your Metropulsehttp://www.metropulse.com/ on November 7, Tennessseans will decide whether or not to make gay marriage illegal by constitutional decree. If you know and love any gay people, go out and vote!

Gore never claimed to have invented the internet, nor did he ever try to imply that he did. Vint Cerf and Robert E. Kahn have defended Gore's actual statements:
As for the rigging of the election....
It was not "rigged" so much as it was intentionally and illegally obfuscated. The 2000 election was a farce and a slap in the face to Democracy. It's not even a question of who won, because that was made irrelevant when the Supreme Court declared Bush president.
You should be shot for treason. That's not the way our system works. Regardless if you're on the "right side of the aisle" or not, you should be ashamed that you would support abuse of your rights just so the outcome would favor "your guy." Oh... wait... I forgot... you're a "wrestler."
But, gee... I sure can agree with you that having a president who supports the use of torture, claims that the constitution is irrelevant, signs every bill with the caveat that it does not apply to him and he can not be held accountable by it, dodged the draft by entering the TANG and apparently did not show up for a large part of his service, sits and reads children's books while our nation is under attack, associates with criminals, supports constitutional bans based on "moral" behavior, creates a $400 billion (almost 500 now) deficit, starts a war with a country complying with US and UN demands, becomes so entrenched in that war that the a real threat of war from countries like Iran and N. Korea could actually happen, opposes freedom of the press, believes that suspending our rights for the sake of "security" is fine and dandy, is a known alcoholic, supports invasion of privacy, is convinced that being "true to your convictions" means being unbending even when your tactics are not working, does not fulfill promises to victims and families killed in the biggest terrorist attack ever, cuts funding for medical care for vets, cuts the salaries of the very soldiers who are risking their lives for his insanity and his VP's corporate buddies, and suspends habeas corpus...
Is a hell of a lot better than having a president who helped create the largest federal *surplus* ever, supports the Kyoto Protocol, values human rights as the highest of values, *volunteered* for the Army during the Vietnam War, created the National Performance Review, and created the lowest income tax burden to the 35 years prior (and since).
Yeah. Thank Gee Oh Dee we have Bush in office.
Before you make more "political" statements, can i recommend that you finish High School, or that you at least read up on attentional bias. Although, I'm certain that any one who still supports Bush either has some kind of potential financial gain from doing so, or is just absolutely politically and globally ignorant.
Gore never claimed to have invented the internet, nor did he ever try to imply that he did. Vint Cerf and Robert E. Kahn have defended Gore's actual statements:
In response to this controversy, Internet pioneers Vint Cerf and Robert E. Kahn, wrote an e-mail dated 2000-09-28, that stated:
As the two people who designed the basic architecture and the core protocols that make the Internet work, we would like to acknowledge VP Gore's contributions as a Congressman, Senator and as Vice President. No other elected official, to our knowledge, has made a greater contribution over a longer period of time.
Last year the Vice President made a straightforward statement on his role. He said: "During my service in the United States Congress I took the initiative in creating the Internet." We don't think, as some people have argued, that Gore intended to claim he "invented" the Internet. Moreover, there is no question in our minds that while serving as Senator, Gore's initiatives had a significant and beneficial effect on the still-evolving Internet. The fact of the matter is that Gore was talking about and promoting the Internet long before most people were listening. We feel it is timely to offer our perspective

The firemen came and broke through the chimney top. And me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird. And instead they pulled out my father. He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit. He'd been climbing down the chimney... his arms loaded with presents. He was gonna surprise us. He slipped and broke his neck. He died instantly. And that's how I found out there was no Santa Claus.

What the hell would any other president have done in office when the twin towers collapsed? Shed a few tears and just say, "oh well, that sucked".
Hell no, Gore would have been pushed into doing the same damn thing by the public, and if you think for 5 seconds that the common-people didn't want blood from 9/11, then your blind.

With an 86% approval rating and people screaming for blood, he gave them what they wanted, and now we are paying for it and blaming him.

I saw on some tv special, that he was reading a childrens' book to a class when he heard about the twin towers. Supposedly he just sat there like, "Uhhhhhhhhhh............" for a good, long moment... What would anyone else have done in that scenario though?
It's incredibly stupid that the people with that view on things didn't look at it from all perspectives while dealing with that type of situation. What did they really expect? That nobody they cared about would be lost due to war, that it would just take 5-10 people to fulfill their wishes and it'd be over with?
While alot've shit he does is corrupt n fucked up, I do realize that he is only human. I'd say being a president is a big ass responsibility... I wouldn't wanna be one, that's for fucking sure...
But, once again, I didn't vote and am, as vertigo wrote, "politically ignorant", so I have no place in this conversation....haha...

Funny... I don't remember one of Saddam's men flying a plane into the towers?

I wouldn't say Saddam was a scapegoat. Bush wanted to go after Saddam. He didn't do it to appease the people. He used the 9/11 thing as a fear tactic and made false claims of a WMD program in Iraq as an excuse to attack Iraq.

judas gnb wrote:actually iraq had WMD a top officer to saddam said they were told to move them before the war to countries outside of iraq
... Yeah... I think if I was about to go to war. I wouldn't just decide to move my big weapons to another country. That's just stupid. It was probably some top officer that was beaten at Gitmo until he magically decided to produce the answer that was needed. And how come, I've never heard of this. Could you provide a link to the article? I'm interested in reading about it.

I stand corrected, 36 million people worldwide protested against the war, but still a small number considering there are approximately 290 million people in the U.S. alone.

Point one:
Buttercup had the right idea toward voting to stop writing discrimination into the Tennessee constitution. If for no other reason vote against number one.
Point two:
Now Judas why would you want a death star? One hit from a star fighter and they go boom. extremely shoddy material.

thats sad......people dont vote, and that upsets me.....people died to give you that right, and you dont exercise that vote....i know my vote may not be counted for anything, but I exercise that right in rememberence of those who died in defense of america.
(whats got me so upset on this subject is my uncle just got killed in IRAQ)
I for one have always voted, though it sometimes seems hard to find someone worth voting for, but...
No, people should know the issues, the candidates, and vote accordingly based on their opinions on such things -- I hate the "just get out and vote" line, I'd rather people not vote at all than just vote at random, by tradition, or for a cult of personality based on who looks good in a 2 minute commercial. I'd prefer everyone vote, but only as informed voters -- an uninformed vote is worse than none at all. That's right up there with the "don't throw away your vote" mentality in allowing the two major parties to keep their strangle hold on the country. Voting is about participating in a choice, and should not be turned into going through the motions on election day as a mater of duty -- a persons duty is make their opinion count, not to push a button in a booth.
