Host goings-on

Post by Hardcoregirl »

1. We just finished the first screen printing workshop and it went great. I'd like to thank everyone that was involved. Some of the students from the class will show their work at host this comming first friday.

Now onto the next workshop. Karley's painting workshop is starting in the early part of april. It will run for a month, two classes a week, mondays and wednsdays from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. The class is recomended for painters of all levels. It will cover a variety of subjects from canvas stretching, different painting mediums and mixed media, techniques, color matching and mixing, mural painting, etc. The workshop will end with the class painting a large public mural, under Karley's direction, here on one of the buildings in the old city. Anyone interested in taking this class should message us on myspace or call Host at 865-633-8840. Space is limited so if you want to do this, jump on it, it's a great opputunity for a low cost. (Karley Sullivan is a UT graduate with a bachelors in fine art. She's an accomplished local artist on the gallery scene here and you can find some of her murals hidden in the labrynth alleyways of the fort.)

2. Computer addicts, hackers, multi-media artists, poor people, benefactors, anyone interested in making education more available to the public, listen up.

Clinton Ayres needs your spare computer parts. Monitors, keyboards, mouses, hardware, all that junk thats been cloging up your closet, basement, etc.

Clint is building an open source, linux software based, free community media lab and he's gonna install it here at Host for the public to use.

Don't know what linux is? Linux is being written by a global community of computer programers. The operating system and software is open source, giving it a free license to own and use, basicaly it uses many programs similar to MAC and windows but its free. Still confused? Google: open source and linux.

Clints goal of setting this up here at Host is to give people accsess to a free media lab to create art, further their educations, stay in touch with the wired world and teach them how to build and use their own linux, open source computers. Computers don't have to be just for people with disposable incomes.

You can drop off any spare computer parts you have here at Host, Monday through Saturday 11:30pm to 9:30pm

3. Host is starting a street art team for the creation of public art. It's workings are top secret. If you are intrested in being involved in this message us here at myspace or come to the studio on tuesdays between 5pm and 9:30. You may be refused involvement in this group.

4. Wed and fridays after 5pm at host are monster and prop building days. Crazy Willy and I are begining construction on more elaborate monster costumes for another round of monster wrestling. If you missed out on the monster wrestling last time check out the pics in our blog. Its gonna be bigger and badder this time. We'll allso be building props for an upcomming play thats being written by Mitchel Garza, Craig Kandel, and Adam Deal.
Anyone intrested in building monster costumes or being involved in the play message us on myspace or show up on the above days.

I've given you enough possibilities for now,
END TRANSMISSION.

Yeah, they do lots of cool stuff.

I like people that don't just talk a bunch of shit about the things they are going to do and then actually do it.

there's no such thing as spare hardware in my world - i need all that i can get my grubby hands on, to build my borg cube. but if they're in need of customized software for their linux boxen, i might be able to hook them up. :D
