Oddball magazines

Post by creapyrob »

Anyone got any good oddball magazines?

I've been on Barracuda for about a year now. Its a retro "stag" magazine with car stuff and rock-a-billy bands.

Its a quartely publication aviable at Books a Million. Or off the websie http://www.barracuda.com Issue 17 is avialbe now its their 5ht anniversey issue. They are having a 5th anniversery party and Don Ho is playing it.

They also have links to Hop Up, Garage Magazine, and quite a few others.

Grassroots Motorsports is pretty good, but most of its stuff is about SCCA racing and I'm newly into that so I don't know how informative that magazine is on the real world front.

I don't know what you mean by "oddball" magazines, but I read car mags that are about cars. I read HotRod, Popular Hotrodding, Car Craft, Chevy High Performance, Super Chevy, Chevy Rumble, GM High-Tech Performance, Camaro Performers, Corvette Magazine, Vette, and I hate to admit it, but sometimes Mustangs & Fast Fords. None of them have much to say about music, unless they mention entertainment that will be featured at one of the big car shows. Most of them do discuss drag racing (both sanctioned and illegal), road racing (generally always sanctioned), bench racing (talking shit to other gearheads), SCCA, NHRA, IMSA, ALMS, etc, and lots and lots of pure technical how-to. Most of these mags have websites, too.

by oddball I mean stuff that you can't find usually. Barracuda is really hard to find.

JP magazine used to be hard to find but now that Primedia has them you can get them at Wal-Mart.

I also read stuff on the Willys Tech forum too.

Oh. Well, maybe you can just get subscriptions to the oddball stuff? I'd do an online search. Especially you, Andrew, for your old, discontinued stuff. Some publishers still have old stock, selling back issues for $7-$10. You might get lucky.
