Seems like about the time I think I am going to be more regular (all right, cut all the cracks about Metamusel, for crimmaney's sake), Life Gets In The Way...
I have finished my second novel for Meisha Merlin (WANDERING LARK, due out in 2005). A cover artist has been selected for the books (finally!). Matt Stawicki has sent us preliminary sketches, and if you pop over to http://www.MeishaMerlin.com and click on titles, then scroll down and click on DRAGON'S TONGUE by Laura J. Underwood, you get a glimpse of the picture we chose over all the rest. It's not the final picture, mind you, but it's pretty cool. Matt did a great job with my favorite demon.
Meanwhile, pub dates for both DRAGON'S TONGUE and CHRONICLES OF THE LAST WAR (Yard Dog Press) have been pushed back (due to editorial decisions and circumstances beyond the author's control...) DT is now back to its original May 2004 release date, so it will be out in time for ConQuest. COTLW is now coming out in late February or early March (will depend on the "farkin printer" as my publisher snarled--their last order for a print run took Far Longer than ye editor liked...). And its cover is wonderful as well (alas I have no samples I can show...)
So that's the latest from the harried author at this time.
Live and Be Well...

Yeah, I'm rather pleased.
And I was given the opportunity to describe the scenes I thought would work best as cover art, and all three concept drawings are going to appear in the back of the hardcover edition after the artist's bio.
He did a superb job with all three scenes. But in the end, this was the one we were most impressed by, (the editorial staff and I), and it was the easiest for the artist to make minor changes to (the demon should have five fingers, and the figure of Alaric should be in more of what I call an "Oh, S**T!" pose since in the scene, he was throwing spells as a last resort.
But he got the demon perfect the first time. Vagner looks exactly the way I invisioned him.
