Okay, when Nine inch nails plays at sanctus....

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Some of us old fogies have been doing just that for so many years, that it has become less then tempting when NIN is played now. I still enjoy them, but I do find other tunes more compelling to dance to. Glad you still dig it, though. Get yourself up & dance when you hear something you like. We'll either join you, or you'll have the floor to yourself. Enjoy it, either way! ;)

*shudders at the thought the last time Closer was played in a club I was at*
I think my exact comment was "Those two are just proving to the world that they are going to have bad sex."

Seriously though, some NIN songs I dance to, some I don't. It totally depends on the song. I'm not a huge fan of the band, but I enjoy them from time to time.

OH Here's a novel idea!!!! How about when Zeo plays a set of Dark wave stuff you might not have heard before but you'll like, how bout get the F up and DANCE.....Ive noticed a lot of top 40 SHEEP!!!! there is a lot of other good music to dance to a sanctus other that NIN, Souxsie, Rammstein, and the likes.......

I swear, if it wasnt played on the radio,, 90 percent of the crowd sat down.
Ben? why are there noodles inmy shoes? hmmmm?

Breathe, Mistress. (Just kidding! ;) )

Yes, there are certain songs that stimulate mass transit to the dance floor, but I wouldn't say these people responding to the song are sheep. I know I try to balance my time between socializing & dancing, but anyone who's ever chatted with me for any length of time has seen me run off to dance in response to a particular song. Sorry, I just can't help it. When Stray Cat Strut or Tainted Love come on, myself & several others make a bee line for the floor. It's not that I didn't dig the song playing before, just that I have some favorites that are harder to pass on.

All the DJs know that the risk of playing new music, means risking the dance floor emptying. That doesn't mean the music is rejected, just that the crowd is less familar with it, & may therefore choose that moment to grab a drink, smoke, or otherwise cool their heels. If a DJ is patient (& a little devious) they'll sandwich new stuff between old standards for a while until the new shite finally has time to work its own spell on the crowd. (Of course, not everyone employs this method. A DJ may choose to use new or obscure music as their particular calling card, playing little else... their call.)

Zeo played an excellent set, but so did the other guys. The success of a DJ's set shouldn't be determined solely by the population of the dance floor at that point in time. Maybe I don't listen to the radio enough anymore, but I hadn't actually recalled hearing anything close to a majority of the Sanctus songs on it.

Sorry to desent, just sticking up for us sheep! ;)

I'd probably come to Sanctus if NIN came. But, I am all about "Mainstream"/"Top 40" music. And I haven't met a band or artist yet that doesn't like money/fame/power/Etc. al.... But, eh what do I know?
Yes, I have wished you were dead. You are just another face in the crowd, someone who brings me suffering, someone I truely hate.

HA! I guess that is my problem with goth nights in general - everywhere, not just here. There is a LOT of gothic or gothicly aligned music that I enjoy, and it is not all meant for dancing. In fact, most of what I most enjoy is not meant for dancing.

I understand that at a club night it is the dance crowd that must be appeased, but not everyone goes to a gothic night to dance. I come to hear good music and to socialize.

So no, NIN is not going to get my panties in a twist and send me to the dance floor. If I am drunk enough, some Old Skool (Sisters, Siouxsie, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Virgin Prunes, Alien Sex Fiend, Coil) might move me, but that's about it.

Meh!

Somehow the rush to the dancefloor during the first 4 notes of "Bloodletting" by Concrete Blonde always gets me laughing. I am not laughing AT anyone, but In my head there is an announcer like at a skating rink "THis is an all goth dance. If you are not goth, get off the dance floor. THis is the gothic call to the dance floor. Again this is an all goth dance."

No offense taken mo. Not at all. I am irrisisably flung to the dancefloor with The Cure and Violent Femmes, and Rammstein.........mmmmmmmmm rammstein......* wanders off muttering about German men*

Amen brotha!

When I get there i'm gonna be so excited you're going to have to drag me off the floor to talk to me. You could be playing Spice Girls, I don't care. Then again, it may always be like that. I'm a bit too perky and I love music in general. But I might be a *little* more inclined to dance to something I know and like, simply because it would be easier to dance to. If it was new and sounded cool, I might listen close and definitely join in next time I heard it. Or just dance anyway and look silly. All good.

I wanna go to Sanctus to have fun and dance. Some unfamiliar music isn't gonna get in my way! :D
