Can anyone recommend a salon or stylist in town that does good extension work? Preferably a place that has experience with synth dreads (not the braid in kind, but the hair-wrapped, teased, and steamed on your head kind).

I know that to get Hair Police dreads their closest affiliate is in Atlanta. By going to the Hair boards at Quinnster's site you may be able to find someone closer by asking around a bit on the Forum.

Are you thinking of doing it yourself? J's megamart on Gay St. had one awhile back, but from what I understand you can you use a clothing steamer. The Quinnster site has full instructions for doing it.

Eeks, you're brave if you attempt to do it yourself. I think it's a bitch just making singles, and they're not even on my head. :shock:

Cat turds are soooo in right now. After some thought, I've decided that I'm NOT crazy enough to put a high powered steamer inches from my scalp. However, if I do find a decent steamer, I'll probably just make a dread wig or experiment some more with single ended dreads.
