and i would have to say that with his playing style (not his songwritting or singing) but if you isolate his guitar style it has a strong sense of jazz to it also

lets face it, he has his roots in good ole country - but he is a class all his own, much like the late great Cash

And I also am speaking from 30 years of experience in saying that having those things in common really doesn't matter.

Actually, the more 2 individuals have in common, the more likely they are to be initially attracted to one another in the first place & stay together in the second, according to my social psych professor & the content of our text this semester. Lots of scientific studies have addressed the phenomenon & seem to conclude that familiarity is often confused as liking.

One researcher did an experiment where a female confederate attended a variety of classes for varying amounts of time. In one class, she was there almost evey meeting, in another, she was there most of the time, another for half the time & so on to a class she never attended. At the end of the semester, the students were shown slides of different faces & were asked to rate the attractiveness of the individuals. On the slide that showed the confederate, the attractiveness score was significantly higher the more times she had been in the classroom & proportionately lower the less she had been there. The person was exactly the same, as was her picture.

Of course, there is also something to said for complimentary personalities as an example of how 2 people don't have to be exactly the same to be attracted, but overall the more familiar the better. ;)

You'd think that after hearing that cliché 63478623646 times, I'd be sick of it.

You'd be right, too.

I consider Willie Nelson more like Blue Grass/Folk than I do country.... and before you start lashing back out... please reference above.

Discussing things isn't "lashing out". You have issues.

I don't think Willie Nelson's music sounds anything like bluegrass, for many reasons, but chief among them being that Willie's songs just aren't upbeat like 99% of all bluegrass is.

I don't think he sounds like folk, either, because folk is based in simplicity, especially as regards to the guitar playing, and Willie's guitar playing is anything but simplistic. Also, folk songs generally rely on one simple chord progression that is repeated, which Willie doesn't.

If you don't want to discuss something on a message board, don't bring it up. That's like hitting someone in the face and then saying "I don't want to fight."

That may be true indeed. But not everyone considers CD collections and wardrobe to be an expression of "having things in common".

I mean, look. I know a lot of goths. Their personalities range radically from one end of the spectrum to the other. It's much more important to find someone whose personality you can appreciate.

Unless you're into never really talking to your mate, and prefer to just go to clubs and get drunk and, on those rare occassions you find yourselves alone together, fuck or watch movies.

I'm sure some people can be happy in that kind of relationship. But I'd hardly say it's the ideal for everyone.

Neither of us are changing our opinions for our own reasons... so further discussion is kinda futile.

Personally, I love me and my personality, but I generally am not attracted to people of the same type of personality. I'm a bit on the quiet side hence I'm attracted to more outgoing personalities. So it really depends on the individual. Some people choose mates that match their own personality, some don't. And my tastes in music are slightly insane. I would be very limited in my options if I only dated people that had similar tastes.

Oh. You're one of those people who thinks that the only point of discussing something is to get someone to agree with you.

That's just silly.

I have great discussions all the time with a friend of mine who is a Philosophy student. We disagree on nearly everything, but still have fun talking about it without either of us feeling the need to "convert" the other.

You should date a ninja. I hear they have real ultimate power.

*4 Degrees *Get up and free yourself from yourself. Locked up inside you, like the calm beneath castles, is a cavern of treasures that no one has been to. Let's go digging. Bring it out to take you back in. You won't do what you'd like to do. Lay back and let me show you another way. I'll kill what you want me to, take what's left and eat it. Take all or nothing. Life's just too short to push it away. Take it all. Take it all in. All the way in. Let it go. Let it go in. You won't feel what you'd like to feel. Lay back and let me show you another way. If you knock me down I'll come back running, knock you down, it won't be long now All the way in. All the way. Take it up higher. 4 degrees warmer. Give in now and let me in. You'll like this in Don't pull it out. It brings us closer than dying and cancer and crying. Come on. You can take it all. Just like that.* Flood* Here comes the water. All I knew and all I believed are crumbling images that no longer comfort me. I scramble to reach higher ground, some order and sanity, or something to comfort me. So I take what is mine, and hold what is mine, suffocate what is mine, and bury what's mine. Soon the water will come and claim what is mine. I must leave it behind, and climb to a new place now. This ground is not the rock I thought it to be. Thought I was high, and free. I thought I was there divine destiny. I was wrong. This changes everything. The water is rising up on me. Thought the sun would come deliver me, but the truth has come to punish me instead. The ground is breaking down right under me. Cleanse and purge me in the water****************let me in
