They're back. If you missed them when they played Pilot Light several months ago, you really should check them out Sunday June 26th when they play Blue Cats.
Never heard them? Think Mr. Bungle.
These cats put on one hell of a show, and the music is nothing less than phenomenal. See you there.
I don't see the compairison to Mr. Bungle really but I do whole hartedly suggest you all come out to the show. Check out their website for MP3 snippits to get an idea of their sound.
Nice that you'll be doing an opening set. I will be there for that. I find the Bungle connection in the cacophanous, herky jerky nature of their music, how it slides from one genre to the next. Other bands like this include Estradosphere and the Bungle side, Secret Chiefs Three. I'm listening to Grand Opening and Closing right now, and getting fired up for a show that's a week away! I hope the belly dancers support this show too!
I got a promo release of the entire cd and it is very diverse. I love it and I really hope many of the regular KGers come out for this. It will be very good.
I'm a bit late in posting this, but I would be remiss not to mention it.
Props to Arkady for a wonderful set opening for SGM. The music was perfect as far as a lead up to this band. It was not geared toward dance, nor was it another rehash of the same tired gothic / electronic music. It was an eclectic mix of bizzare funk / rock like Primus. And for the first time I can recall, I heard something I have never heard before and want to hear more of. PLEASE send me your setlist. I want to track some of that music down!
As for the rest of the show, Art Vandelay was a bit too Phishy for me and way to "jam-bandy" to be opening for SGM. SGM was amazing and fun as always. Their new album is well worth a listen too.

I'll make sure Jason sees this and gets back to you.

My sentiments exactly. The show was great. Kudos to Jason on his set.
