let me preface this thread by saying
i in no way support, condone, or appreciate
facism
or
fence walking
when it comes to extreme political subjects
so as this conversation takes place
i do not want to be called a nazi or have comments implying
anything of this nature
i feel leni was a genius of sorts in her film work
i for one have never seen any of her acting so i can't comment on that
and i don't find her guilty of any social or political crime
given the time period of when
triumph of the will
was made
and the extreme strangle hold on the citizens of the country
that took place during this time
ie: if you don't do this for your country you are a jew sympathizer
(or in todays language your'e either with us or with the terrorists)
in most cases meaning you and your family would be ostracized , "relocated" , or killed
what do you think?
leni riefenstahl - criminal / artistic genius / or both

I think Leni was amazing.
NO, I am not a nazi (even if I am german),
but her work is almost the pennacle of effective propoganda.
And that deseveres respect in my eyes.
Her use of camera angles ALONE makes her distingushed in the field of film work.
She was a bit of a visionary, even if what she was futhering was very unsavory.
(Yes, I am very aware of the horrors of WWII and Hitler. I was made to study it from childhood. Because of my heritage, my parents wanted me to know everything. "Being ingorant of the past only causes it to repeat itself." I was the one teen who missed the bus in D.C. because I spent so much time in the holocaust muesum. So don't go there with any nazi shit. k?) (pre-emptively responding to repliers, not to recluse.)
