hmmm... Johnny Depp's performance is Marilyn Manson-inspired creepiness? interesting.

from the IMDB:

Depp's "Creepy" Performance To Scare Audiences

Johnny Depp is eager to terrify young audiences with his "creepy" performance as Willy Wonka in his latest movie Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. Annasophia Robb, 11, who plays Violet in the Tim Burton movie, was impressed with the Hollywood actor's friendliness on set - but admits his Marilyn Manson-inspired onscreen performance was terrifying once cameras start ed rolling on the latest take on Roald Dahl's popular book. Robb says, "His character is very creepy from any other Willy Wonka you've seen. I'm not allowed to say very much about that movie. He's such a normal guy, he treats everyone with the same amount of respect. He invites us to his trailer to make us feel more comfortable with him."

Being a fan of Manson's for ten years and running, and knowing what he is like as a person(not Antichrist)...he DID in fact coach Depp on the character, and Wonka comes out funny and creepy, and very eccentric, and a bit spacy, just like Brian Warner is.....and the trailer did not do the movie justice. I was very pleased to see they kept it closely based on the book, and Depp is a GREAT actor(no I don't want to have gay love with him either..LOL) I'm a fan of all his work(Secret Window, Fear n Loathing, Edward S., Sleepy Hollow) and he makes a great Manson inspired Wonka. Go see this one!

Manson is an attention whore and would be almost perfect for the role. However, I think Depp is better because he can go from looking and acting totally demented to a normal person in a split second, which is something I doubt Manson could do.

Still, Gene Wilder shall forever be THE Willy Wonka.

After seeing the new Charlie, I didn't think it was that bad. Although between this and Planet of the Apes, I hope Burton lays off the remakes for a loooong time. Never been a big fan of regurgitation, even if I insanely love the original material.

As for Depp being a bad actor... nah. I think he's been doing a good job. Fear and Loathing and Ed Wood were really good. So was Dead Man... I mean, Depp, Iggy Pop & Crispen Glover all in one film? Sign me up.

But stuff like The Ninth Gate & Secret Window... Dear God, erase it from my memory.

Actually, I was watching on depp this morning. He said that his performance had nothing to do with Manson...while they were good friends...he was not part of the process at all...He credited his daughter for the voice, and Burton was the one who coached the creepiness...

Sorry kids...While Manson was 1st choice to play the role...That was it...

burton is still saying he assisted in costume design, set design, ect and was on set thru the movie.
google away.
it was commonly mentioned in interviews before the movies release cycle.
now its like it never happened.
hmm

Saw it n FLA when it came out ... highly disappointed ... Depp waz not all bad, but not all that grrr8, either (Although he & the vizual appeal were the highlitez, imo) ... NOT mpressed with Burton'z changez ... The whole thing waz rushed ... & The disco oompa-loompa crap sucked ass! OK way 2 waste a coupla hourz, but not worth even the matinee admission price, IMO ...

It's not so much a "remake" of the original movie, but a modern telling of the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It is JUST like the book for those who have read it. I in fact loved it, thought Depp was hilarious, and next time I watch it, I will be tripping on shrooms. Lots of color and eye candy...."Dont' touch that squirrel's nuts! He'll go crazy!"

sebuda, did you catch mind of mencia tonight?
i didnt even know that the oompas are fucking CG?!?!?!
"tim burton replaced us with cg, now we do midget porn to make ends meet"
fucking great.
fucking remake is a forgettable flick thats being forgotten.
all the people i know that went to see this flick, i heard almost nothing but complaints and they heard almost nothing but i told you so.
another goddamned remake, but at least its better than say, herbie.
IM FUCKING SICK OF REMAKES.
the bad news bears remake was what... bnb + bad santa? fuck that. i dug bad santa, ill go back and watch that. and thorton playing an alkie asshole isnt a strech, i mean he did used to bone the queen of hotness.
the bewitched remake was what... a remake about a remake or some such shit? fuck that.

and just to be fair, ill hit one of my movies that was instant classic to me, devils rejects is a pointblank fucking rehash of texas chainsaw massacare 2 just alot better done
i mean this sheriff was no dennis hopper with chainsaws, but it was a better movie.. and TCM2 is one of my fav cheese flicks because it was alot of interesting badly done shit (except crop top. mosley pwns you).
ORIGINAL IDEAS PEOPLE. JUST WRITE WHAT YOU FEEL.
make a movie based of your brainchild and dont let the fucking test audiences control your fucking movie.
but nooooooooooooooo
weeeeeeeee wanttttt remakessss because WE ARE TOO FUCKING LAZY TO EXPAND TO NEW IDEAS!!!!!!!!!!
its horseshit. its easier to watch the same shit rehashed because you instantly understand it. i mean it takes the average moron a few watches just to understand a complex movie like.. i dunno.. the bad news goddamned bears and now we just remake instead of pump out 10,00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 sequels. its fucking sad.
ill take these remakes as proof the nation is on meth and its rotted away their fucking brains. also, id say that explains tom goes to the mayor, every show on adult swim is for a certain drug if you ask me. i mean i know thats not true, but ive watched it on many substances and theres always one show that sticks to one chemical to me.
i have my suspsions that that fucking robot chicken is for huffing gas, but i refuse to test the theory because a) thats fucking stupid and b) that show pwns.
that being said theres a few remakes that didnt totally blow.
the dawn of the dead remake is fucking mad cool. i mean that flick is just point blank sick.

i <3 gene wilder

THERE'S NO EARTHLY WAY OF KNOWING
WHICH DIRECTION WE ARE GOING
THERE'S NO KNOWING WHERE WE'RE ROWING
OR WHICH WAY THE RIVER'S FLOWING
IS IT RAINING
IS IT SNOWING
IS A HURRICANE A-BLOWING
BLEH!
NOT A SPECK OF LIGHT IS SHOWING
SO THE DANGER MUST BE GROWING
ARE THE FIRES OF HELL A GLOWING?
IS THE GRISLY REAPER MOWING?
YES! THE DANGER MUST BE GROWING
FOR THE ROWERS KEEP ON ROWING
AND THEY'RE CERTAINLY NOT SHOWING
ANY SIGNS THAT THEY ARE SLOWING!
