Temple Performances

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

What do you think about the recent "performances" at Temple?

Oh My God! Get behind me Satan, mine christian eyes are burning!

At least for me it does. I've been snickered at by various folks before & it sucks, but I choose not to let those individuals have any power over me & continue to do what I love... dance. well as per the threads topic.. "what do you think about the recent "performances" at Temple"...

that is all i was addressing. An opinion was asked for..and an opinion was given. I have seen them done both tastefully..and untastefully..and there is a clear difference.--to me.--
Do what you want, by all means..everyone has that right and -should- have that right..but lets not take this off somewhere else. IE..'people have the right to dance if they want' well...duh..no one said they shouldn't..

I'm not bitching at anyone..nor would i devote my valuable time to such..i'm just giving an asked for opinion.

And now that i have done so..

that is all.

Well, here's my two cents worth.

I have been to clubs where nothing else was talked about but who was wearing what, how someone was a terrible dancer, you know, the usual meat market club atmosphere.

However, at both Temple and Sanctus, I have discovered that the "meat market" attitude is not there. People will leave you alone if that's what you want, or will engage in conversation if that's your pleasure. There is never the drunk asshole who goes around trying to pick up anything with boobs. The way you dress (or don't), the way you dance means nothing to anyone else. It is definitly the "live and let live" attitude that I truly enjoy when I'm at either function. I get to hang out with some incredible people, dance when I want and not have to worry about how I'm percieved by others. It's a truly refreshing change from the usual club atmosphere. That's why I don't go anywhere else.

If someone wants to dance in the cage or the shadow box, that's fine with me. If I don't like what's happening, then I don't watch. I say, do what you want, as long as it doesn't bring the club any trouble and I'll do my own thing, too.

You're kidding. There are like, a dozen of those at any given Temple or Sanctus.

The way you dress (or don't), the way you dance means nothing to anyone else.

There are most definitely people at Temple/Sanctus who care about how others dress (or don't).

Perhaps the drunk assholes are there, but I've never experienced it or seen it. Maybe I give off a vibe that says "screw with me and I'll tear your throat out" and that keeps them away, which is fine with me.

As far as how others perceive me, I only care how my closest friends feel about me. They know me for who and what I am and still put up with me. If someone wants to make judgements or comments about me, that's entirely up to them. Just remember "Don't judge me based on your ignorance". Get to know who I am before you do that.

But anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that people are going to do what they want to do. As long as they aren't intruding on my personal space and my good time, I really don't care what they do.

I agree...You asked for an opinion and it was given. Now, don't be pissythat not every single opinion was an ego feed, but at least it was honest.

This isn't a bashing thread. It has nothing to do with dancing. I don't care who does or does not dance. Hell I dance when I'm trashed, or just in a good mood... It's a fucking club, I expect to see people dancing. However, I do not expect to see someone's pusy as I am walking by the bar, or to the pool tables, or to the bathroom.

This is my fianl post on a thread that is becoming redundent. Don't get pissed at the people who voice opinions against their given options. In this crowd, I expected something of that nature to be condoned.

As I said above in this thread, I don't care what people do or wear as long as its not endangering the club night. That being said, I will bring up this issue that has arisen over the last month or so that causes some concern to me.

People, be careful what you wear to the club. Our promoters work very hard to provide us with a place to party, dance, socialize and just have a good time. Although it might infringe upon self expression, be respectful of those people who give up their time to provide you with a good time. Be careful about what you select to wear out to a club or rather, not wear to a club. By legal standards, bras and panties count as covered. Anything less could get into that gray area which could potentially risk getting our clubs in trouble with the liquor board and could potentially result in getting our promoters and the club nights in trouble. Keep in mind that photos are taken by a lot of people at the clubs, not all of those photos end up on KG or Temple's websites, so I'm sure that there are plenty of other people that see them. If a photo gets taken of somebody wearing something that infringes on that gray area or a shot gets taken of someone in direct violation and the wrong people see it, there could be some serious consequences for our club nights. Outfits seem to keep getting smaller and smaller, and that's fine as long as it doesn't endanger the night.

Agreed! Obey the laws of the land, even if you don't agree with them, for the sake of the group. We all like pretty people in pretty outfits & hope that time blesses everyone with appropriate fashion sense, but if it fails to, don't resort to name calling. That's just the ugly icing on the ugly cake, so to speak. Sorry if my previous comments offended anyone, but I just don't like the idea of folks being called unkind names. We should all be intelligent enough to convey a point in a civil fashion... as Shadow Dancer has done. ;)

Well said Shadowdancer! Yes, please, as much as we love the boobies, they must be covered. Pasties will get us shut down, so wear some sort of top. If you really have to show them off, take me into the ladies room for a private viewing!

Hey all!
Just wanted to let you all know:

(yes, yes, I know most of these posts were not aimed at me, but I'd like to allay any worries you might have)

I am not a hick, in fact my family lives in Farragut, and my father was a Commander in the Navy. I have more ball gowns than skanky underwear.

My ACT average is a 29 (Yale-worthy): 35 reading, 32 English, 27 Science, and 19 Math. I am also a 4.0 in school, carrying 18+ hours a semester.

I am an actress, I perform for SELF-FULFILLMENT. I don't give a fuck what you think. Honestly, you think I posted this to actually find out what you want. Bull, I was bored. Sue me.

Actually, I am not an attention whore. I tend to be the wallflower in real life. But you know what? You wouldn't know that because you don't actually KNOW me. Most of you don't know my name, much less more than that. Temple is a stage (credit to JC for the phrase) and most times you will not see the real side of anyone in the club.

And no, even though I know you don't care, my feelings are not hurt. I just feel sorry for you, you who claim to be diametrically opposed to the superfical preppy squad who judge based on apperance. Remember not everything is what it seems.

I DO NOT want your phone number. I never call them, so don't try.

I don't know you and have never met you. I'll ASSUME you are one of the girls in the pictures I've seen on top of the platforms and thought "eww, I don't want to see that" (not you but perhaps you spreading your legs for the crowd) and it added to reasons why I don't go to temple anymore and haven't since July. Where your parents live and who they are doesn't mean you aren't trash, and I'm not saying you are either. Some of the most well-off and respectable people I've known have had children in and out of rehab/jail etc. A commander in the Navy means little to me, I find the military to generally be for delinquents who can't do college or find another way (and before people get pissed, my dad, grandpas and boyfriend were/are all in the military). Where you come from doesn't mean a lot in what you turn out to be.... ACT scores don't mean shit but that you are good at taking standardized tests, I scored in the 99th percentile on all my tcaps but fucked up the ACT because I decided to get drunk the first time the night before (I was 16 and figured I'd retake it). I tested well enough to get into UT so I didn't redo it. But it doesn't mean jack shit as a gauge of my intelligence so I don't flaunt any of those numbers. Some people are book smart and some people are just smart...I like to think I'm in the later catagory.

Plus, why go to Pellissippi if you are Yale worthy? I went there, I loved it, but I didn't score so highly or have a high high school gpa. I was just trying to survive on my own at the time..

And if you don't honestly give a fuck about our opinions don't ask for them and don't reply in the manner you did. It rather goes against that.

Why don't you just add to the generic "I actually care but I'm gonna act all tough like I don't" facade and say that we are all just jealous.

If you are an actress, act, go for it. What is it you are trying to "act" as though because apparently your act is not impressing some people if thats your goal. Humans are observant and judging people, they make assumptions on people's appearance and behavior in order to get ideas on what sort of person they may be. Thats just human nature I'm sorry. If you saw a "coked out stripper" you might steer clear of her because you don't want your stuff stolen and/or don't want a disease...that doesn't make you a bad person, it makes you observant. Without being observant and making some judgement calls on things, many of us would be in many more situations we regretted. If I see someone behaving in a skanky manner, I don't think they are a bad person, I just know I don't want them in my circle and I don't want to hang around with people that act certain ways. I'm just as unlikely to hang out with someone in the corner acting overly aloof in that oh so, "look at me avoiding you all with my book of dark poetry" air.

Anyways, don't start threads about yourself if you aren't prepared to hear the honest truths about how people feel.

Anyways, if you enjoy it, and others do, go on...But know other people don't enjoy it and its sort of hard to avoid people on a raised platform in your field of view every time you look out over the floor unless you keep your eyes to the ground and avoid certain areas. Its easier just to not attend temple. And if I was influencing peoples temple attendance, I'd consider my actions a little more whether or not "I give a fuck about what people think".

I got a 31 on my ACT. I was also accepted to NYU to study theater. Does that mean I'm exempt from basic codes of decency, too?

Not to over step any lines being a newbie on the forum. I can vouche for Midnight_Scarlet_Angel if any those comments were directed toward her. I know her personally, maybe not as well as I would to, but I can definately say I've been hanging out with her every day for the past 4 weeks and I've gotton to know her pretty well during this time. She's a very respectable, classy, intelligent, and sexy (not skanky) woman. Only being to one Temple myself, I feel safe to say that most of the people there go out there to let loose of their inhabitions, to let off stress from during the week. And more than likely 85% of them lead a normal 9-5 week, be it that they work or goto school, or both.
True we are all unique individuals, just like everyone else. But who are we to judge by mear images that some of us have seen from photos on the temple site? Some of you like to call that conformism, being just like the rest of the public, being just like popular crowd, pop culture.. Blah blah blah blah blah... Preps, goths, dorks, geeks, nerds, jocks... Who gives a flying fuck!! There are two types of people in this world. Good people, and bad people. And we cannot make these judgements until we have taken the time to get to know someone, maybe not on an extreme personal level. But well enough to understand ones integerity and intentions. Personally, I always thought that is what this scene is about. To be a group of peoples that do not judge and predetermine based on appearance. Am I taking away that there aren't some quote "skanky" people there. Absolutely not.. Hello!! Its east Tennessee. You're gonna be seeing some rather under educated, and not so clean individuals anywhere you go, be it at Temple, Tonic, Downtown Grill, etc...

Accept it for what it is... They're still entitled to have as much of a good time as the next person. If it gets out of hand, Im more than positive that someone will be more than happy to put a stop to things and make sure that certain individuals do not return.

Anyways... That is that...
