Meh. Cool because it's based on a true story...but then again...It's says based...so what was a wolf could be depicted as a version of Big Foot...Which is the problem with most films based on reality...they have to jazz it upa bit. Chances are I'll see it...
"It was inappropiate and definatly hott..."
True. Most real life serial killer movies have been pretty crap to say the least. The exceptions have almost all been movies either based only on profiles of real Killers, like Silence of the Lambs or Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer (Henry was inspired by Lucas, but not really an accurate protrayal of Lucas' life and crimes), or focused more on the effects the killer had on society, such as "M," Summer of Sam and Citizen X. Citizen X was a good telling of the Chikatelo murders in Russia, but was much more a story of the police and the investigation. One notable exception that focused on both the killer and the police force, is the Chinese flick, The Untold Story. I am not familiar with the real case, so I don't know how accurate it was, but goddamn, what a great fucking movie. Disturbing and oh so shockingly violent.
I get the idea that Wolf Creek focuses only on one abduction, one part of the Milat case, transforming it into a stalker movie rather than focusing on the investigation and the true life aspects, which is dissappointing as it is an interesting story. But then I do enjoy a good stalker film, so bring it on

The Director of Public Prosecutions in the Northern Territory asked the film distributor to delay screening the film until after the trial of Bradley John Murdoch, accused of murdering British backpacker Peter Falconio. Murdoch's trial commenced 17 October 2005.

fun flick, excellent cinematography...jarrett's perfomance is superb and although most of the victim's behavior fall under the cliche category, one must admit that most slasher film victims always do(rarely is there a film where any one person can think of everything and anything on a dime, like pick up some broken glass...ahem)... i can see why jarrett is getting a lot of attention..."head on a stick"...hee,heee...
must say i enjoyed it about as much as anything this year...up there w/ history of violence, calvaire, batman begins, descent, izo(there's a few others i need to see),and cigarette burns(which was the best thing on the tube this year)...the tension, grittiness(ditto the brutality),and isolation of it all did remind me of haute(the extended trailer for hills looks superb) and does put this one up there w/ other backwoods classics such as tcm, rituals, straw dogs, deliverance, calvaire,& 2000 maniacs...it also joins long weekend, last wave, picnic at hanging rock, and to lesser extents mad max and razorback as an australian classic...
on side note, nice set of trailers...even though most seem to be remakes...
