And I don't get the point. It's fake. It's not real. "Oh look. Intenstines. Only they're not. Because this is a movie." Though I think people who watch, say,
Faces of Death are somewhat creepy, at least I understand it. I don't understand getting a thrill from fake torture and gore. Same way I feel about, say, the vast majority of sex scenes in movies. They're just too obviously fake.
And, in the case of people getting bits cut off, that will
always be obviously fake, because it's totally illegal. At least in some fake-sex or fake-love scenes you can tell the actors at least
might be actually into each other (cf. the Mickey Rourke/Lisa Bonet sex scene in
Angel Heart).
I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-gore.
Cannibal Holocaust is a very interesting movie.
Hostel isn't.
