could still be the starter....they do that sometimes...when mine went out it didnt click...also check your coilpack...they like to go out when it gets cold...you are having the same problem i have..mine it could be anyone of three things, starter, coilpack, or ignition. Question do u have a microchip in your key...if so it could be the VATS system...if so look into a grand..because the only people who are certified are the dealers.

ok let me do some thinking...check coil pack...does it selectivly start..like random start..if not dont worry about coil pack....it very well still could be the starter...pull it off and take it to be tested..they do that for free.

lol..its a gm product like mine...it should be located under the right front tire, obyiously not under it but rather behind it...gm did it weird, what kind of jack do u have...im not an expert at this...in fact when it comes to the procedure i usually have someone else do it...not that i cant but im lazy and have very little patience. Its really small, looks well go to yahoo and type in ur car model and keyword starter that will give u an idea....my car and urs are basically the same...mine is gonna cost around 85 dolars for the part and my friend is gonna put it in for aroun 40, all together id say 130$ im no expert so id have an expert look at it...with GM it could be anything...but if i was to say, it would be the starter...oh and screw driver and pliers wont cut it...u need lots of tools

a jack is a tool used too lift a car...u need to raise ur car off the ground to get the right front wheel off. Your car should come with a jack its usuaally under the spare tire in the trunk. Mind u I dont use those types i use a different type but that will do....if u are going to do this plz goto autozone and or avdanced auto..they have how to pamphlets, and cheap how to books...that is what u need if u wanna do this yourself. :D

Fallen,
Yeah your problem is one of two things, the ignition switch or the starter solenoid. before you replace the starter you need to check that you are getting power to the starter. Sometimes (I have had this happen several times on differant cars) the wire from the ignition switch to the starter has come off and just needs to be put back on the starter. You will need a test light and someone to turn the igntion switch on while you watch to see it the test light comes on when hooked to the ignition switch wire.
I could show you this easier than explain it, without a VERY long description of whats going on here.

Basically the down and dirty - If the light comes on when hooked to the wire (with the igntion turned all the way to start) the solenoid or entire starter need replaced (in some cars they are seperate pieces in some cars it is one assembly, either way if you can afford it I would replace the entire starter assembly, rebuilt will save you $$$ & Auto zone gives lifetime warrentees on some rebuilt starters). If the light doesnt come on then you probably have a bad switch or a wire to the switch has come off.

There are a few other things to check in the whole thing but thats 9 outta 10 times the story if you have a good battery.

If you need a hand diagnosing your problem let me know, you & Junkies place is not far from the my shop, and I can stop by on the way home from work one day and can run the tests pretty quick to tell what you need to replace.

Well since Tuesday I jiggled a few wires and it started back up but wouldn't start after I moved the car. I believe it is a loose wire. Unfortunately its stuck down near the end of Chapman Hwy. Gonna see if I can't find the starter and stick it back in or something like that Sat afternoon. If that don't work I'll have it towed up to the house and we'll see what we can work out.
