funny you should ask, ive been listening to the shit outta it and still i dont have alot to say .its kmfdm without skold or watts, so its really "how much talent does our actual band have on top of kapt K" and "how much can we milk Lucia".shes on everytrack but a couple this time around doing her same angry spit vocals, first time i listened to the cd i thought wow, theyve became a shit atari teenage riot clone.. now its like the more i hear it the more i like it.
andy selway is gonna be the next rieflin if he keeps drumming like this. i didnt like it at first until i realized hes doubling a drum machine thru his playing. even in the tracks i didnt like his drumming is solid. its not like rieflin good, but its as damned beat -oriented as it gets....jules guitar work is still not any of the great guitar players of kmfdm old but its really got a fucking appeal.
some of the songs just strike me as uninspired, the rest really strike me as a reminder of just how many totally different sounding eras of KMFDM weve had....this is really taking the ww3 vibe, stripping out ray watts, and running in that direction with alot of old school synth (yea, hes synth work kicks ass as usual).
you really gotta listen to it about 4 times just to decide if its got or not. which i guess is a good thing, cuz im still listening to it. some of the tracks reallyc ome close to nailing it, the rest really do. just adjust to an overdose of lucia.
i know it looks like im bashing it but im not. its got alot of really catchy tracks that are gonna be awesome live. but i miss the skold or the watts eras. does that mean this cd is bad? hell no. i just havent got used to it. it was to finally hear some tracks in german again. its been what.... im thinking symbols since he did that?
i give it 3.5 outta 5 right now, but by next week, itll probably be 4.
never ceases to amaze me a band that recycles more of the same by most of its listeners standards sounds so era-ed to its fans and different.
