if you didn't know, the graphics engine for the game was released open-source last year - quake 3 - means if you want to modify how the game works, or hell, make a sequel... you can.

Just finished playing F.E.A.R. It's pretty, but rather disappointing after reading all the reviews. I'm sorry. But is it just me or are environments in FPS games still not living up to the level of games 10 years older. I remember all the cool things you could do in Duke Nukem 3D. Yet, I play FEAR and feel like the environment is completely unusable. I don't care how much work it takes or if it screws up your completely step for step laid out storyline. If a door is blocked by a fucking cabinet, and I throw a grenade in front of it, I want it to blast open like it should in real life. I know they make bullet proof glass, but I haven't read anything lately about rocket-proof glass. I mean, if I have this futuristic explosive charge weapon device, I expect it to be able to knock down a wooden door! But anyways, the game wasn't scary at all. Doom3 was scarier. Maybe the multi-player is better, but I doubt it has anything to offer that compares to CS:S.
