I don't know if it is so much people trying to be sphincter clowns, or if they simply don't know any better. Most (and I honestly believe this) most people simply want to be left alone, and to do their own thing. Some (say 5-10%) need or exist for the sole purpose to validate their lives through others. They don't want to necessarly be this way, they just are. If anyone has read Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead" you'll know what I mean. There are people who gain pleasure/comfort knowing that they are smarter/prettier/have a better car/job/family/etc. than the guy next to them. That is how they judge themselves against the world. I'm not saying its right or wrong. Some people just can't think in any other way. Of course, if I had my way, we'd just nuke the shit of everyone and live in a post apocalyptic world fighting mutanted cactus and ground squirrels. I'm also mentally slow, so you get the idea.
You can also apply this to people that troll message boards, looking to start flame wars. They fit into the little percentage that must get a response from others , to either show their percieved sense of self worth, or an attempt to get recognition and attention. You've got a handful on every board. They need the attention because there is nothing in the real wide world that draws attention to themselves. Again, not saying its right or wrong, just think of how vanity runs most peoples lives. Hair care, plastic surgery, make up, fitness stuff, clothes, women and shoes. You get the idea. Bring on the giant chimpmunks!
Of course if you think I am singling "you" out, fret not. You don't exist in my really, real world. So how can I possibly want to make fun of you? Well, aside from me being a complete tool that is. Did I mention the cacti?
