Who cares if the animal dies of it's own stupidity it sees cars going down the road it sees lights and shit yet it decides it has to cross Pellishitty where if it gets to the other side it's just trapped by a concrete divider. If a person were to do something so enane we would point and laugh. But since it's Bambi it's so horrible. Tree huggers all over the fucking planet say we should treat animals as our equals. So if they do something stupid shouldn't we point and laugh at them too?

Wow, I guess you're right. And seeing as how an adult deer has almost the intelligence of a one year old child, maybe it would be hilarious if a stupid baby crawled out into the road. Maybe we could send it Funniest Home Videos. Stupid babies. I can't believe there are some people out there that actually believe that children are our equals because they obviously aren't as intelligent as us.

Sorry guys, but without that car as protection, a deer in rut would rip you open. Wouldn't that be funny? The deer would say, "Stupid human. Just walking around in the woods asking for it."

:P

Honestly I see both your points entirely. and Ophelia it has been fully noted that you care alot about deer.... but I didn't start this thread to build up some wildlife preservation controversy. I was very distressed that I killed the deer, but also equally as distressed with what the deer did to my car. He was charging my car from the side, he could have moved...that's entirely logical and even children could think to stop or move if they're running at something. I was very angry that the deer had to die, and if there had been any way to get out of it, I would have done so...but there wasn't. It's not like I go out hunting for deer, I think it's disgusting and unjust. I have never encouraged it. I would have much rather hit a car, than the deer. So that said...I don't think this should be a big deal.

Darlin', I was replying to another post that was made about the deer. I actually hadn't planned on posting anything else, but the simplicity (I can't type a coherent sentence but deer are so stupid) of that individual's post demanded sarcasm.

And, believe it or not, if you make a post that sounds so initially disrespectful towards the life of an animal, someone on this board will usually have a problem with it. I am a far-cry from being a hippie, and I'm not a vegetarian or etc., but I know that deer are not "stupid." They just become easily confused and startled. The "deer in headlights" is an old cliche for a reason. I let you know that I understand how you felt. Please don't take my response to someone else as an attack on you, as it obviously wasn't addressed to you. No worries.

I often wonder how one gauges an animal's intelligence, in comparison to a human. An IQ test, maybe? Or perhaps something as simple as a good game of checkers.

Regardless, even if an animal were some kind of fur-covered Einstein, if they'd had no previous experience with a greater technology - cars, for instance - it's entirely possible that there would be a moment of surprise involved.

ophelia wrote:Sorry guys, but without that car as protection, a deer in rut would rip you open. Wouldn't that be funny? The deer would say, "Stupid human. Just walking around in the woods asking for it."

:P

There's a reason why I collect videos entitled, "Animals Attack!"

It's funny as all hell, watching humanity assume that, because as a whole we're the dominant species on this planet (a point which could and has been be argued into the ground), the "lesser species" on this planet cannot harm us.

Thus, it's my opinion that if a person is walking around in woodland without some sort of protection, they are asking for it. Stupid humans.

Mistress Eve(L): If a human was charging my car, like the deer was... I would probably feel less remorse for hitting the human, than the deer. I don't care that much for the general population.

Ophelia: Don't worry about what was said, I didn't take it as a personal attack. I just wanted to clarify my stance on hunting and killing for sport, etc.

OK, here goes.

I don't think that any living creature has the right to live...human, deer, ect. I'm not saying that we have the right to kill any living creature either. Only the "powers-that-be" reserve that right, but if a living being dies...aw...damn. If some homeless man died, most of the population wouldn't even find out about it, & if they did, most of those poeple wouldn't care. The same goes for the deer. Face it people...death happens. We can't stop it, or delay it. If we can't just ge over this little fact, then how can we pretend to function in a basic reality? To end this, I must say that, I am not siding with anyone, only stateing that if it where a human being that was hit, I would have felt exactly the same, without remorse.

Wow, really? Even if it was someone you know, or a member of your family? I totally understand the rest of your post, but I don't think anyone can be totally impartial. Yes, everything dies, that is obvious, and natural, and etc. That wasn't the object of debate. It's okay to feel bad when something dies, even if we know that it is going to happen.

If it where a friend or a family member that had hit the car...I would disown them. I would be ashamed to be associated with anyone that would run at a vehical going 75 mph. I am not saying that remorse is a useless emotion, that's all well & good, I'm just spent is all. It has been my firm belief that you shouldn't have children, if you are not prepared for them to die. Now, please, understand this, I am not saying to expect them to die. If I had children, & my child died, I would be devastated, & ripped to pieces, but I would not become an invalid. No, I am not sick, or emotionally desensitized, I just have become aware of my own, & everyone elses, mortality. In some grand scheme, that deer had to die. For a defenseless animal to be a pawn of "The-Powers-That-Be" I feel bad for that. I didn't cry at my mothers funeral, I'm not gonna cry over a deer...sorry.

On a side note: If Tommy Chong had hit the car...I would have stole his bandana, & hold back laughter for the rest of the trip.

my uncle has hit 5 deer this year and then went out for hunting season and got one for blackpowdre season and at least one for regular season. he has two sons both got a deer apiece my grandfather also got one. and i have many other relatives.

and the state (minn.) is still overrun with deer of course it's because the wolves have been all but eradicated, because the dnr is run by idiots.....what was my point again?

oh yea just be glad you don't pay my uncle's car insurance.

and maybe the deer are rising up to kill their oppresors
