Not trying to be a nazi, but it's "Capoeira". It is really fun, but good luck finding a practitioner who can fight, these days.

But you're right - it really started as an off-the-wall variation of guerilla warfare, developed by the Africans enslaved in Brazil. However, for the most part, what's practiced in the U.S. is considered Capoeira Regional - more dance and acrobatics - whereas the original (or thus I've been led to believe) is known as Capoeira Angola, which tends more towards takedowns and striking.

The difference is about the same as the difference between American Tae Kwon Do and Korean Tae Kwon Do.

1. EveL as much as i LOOOOVE prince, he did NOT own every year of the 80s...infact he was very non main stream until 1999 came out in 83, purple rain in 84 was fucking HUGE. But then Cherry Moon like blew up in his face. Now granted i liked Around the world in a day, Lovesexy, Parade, and even the Batman stuff all those....(86, 87 and 89) were pretty much colossal flops. Well, Batman was huge, and i LOVE the batman album, but most people make fun of it. So....in retrospect, commercially, Prince only really RULED 1983, 84, 86 (with Parade) and technically 89.

I would also like to add i believe i am gonna start a topic of my own, a seminar for the underprivledged....an 80s zone, with music, movies, tv, and fads.

My favorite parts of the 80s...(and some of my first covered topics) Movies like: Back to the Future, Karate Kid, and Young Guns. Music from people like Echo & the Bunnymen, Adam Ant, and the cyberpunk, Billy Idol. And fun fads like, Parachute Pants, Day Glo, and Cock Rock.
