While Torrid has a lot of really nice things, they are moving away from the darker image into more trendier, "fashion forward" styles... (I'm an employee) I think having a good variety of sizes in your store is a good idea because many women in our scene are above a size 12.

Brands like Tripp and LipService are nice, but it's all starting to look the same.

Congrats on your venture... I can't wait to see things up and running :)

how about one of a kind stuff made by local people that do custom work? i know there are a few around here that do that -

how about having a show place for art/photography and stuff of that nature, you could even double it as a kind of place where people could do lil art shows at your shop ( with some kind of tie in to a sale on the stuff you carry)

ooh and a dance floor and a place for me to dj :D

am i dreaming here?

MANIC PANIC FINGER NAIL POLISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i've known 1 place that ever carried it and they closed yrs ago.

its my fav nail polish and its a pain in the ass to play the guessing game on the website, hoping the color is what you think it is.

any MP products other than hair color would be cool. i can never find them anywhere.

Thanks arse...

We will not be selling Tripp and if we sell lipservice it won't be the massproduced overpriced crap that those stores sell that falls apart after you wear it a few times.

We wanna sell things you wouldn't find there...

What I have found most often about Lip Service clothing is that there are two levels of their clothing: the overpriced stuff that falls apart that is sold at stores like Hot Topic (usually denoted on the LS site with a HT following the product code) and the still-overpriced stuff that is really nice. The two pieces of LS clothing that I have had issues with both came from Hot Topic. I have several dresses and pairs of pants that were never sold at Hot Topic that have held together extremely well and are very decent quality. I just recently ordered and received a new dress from the LS website. As for quality and appearance, I like it. I've only worn it once, so I don't know if its going to hold together. Most of the complaints I've heard about LS clothing has been in the last couple of years, but I'm not sure if that is with the Hot Topic merchandise or their higher quality clothing.

In addition with Lip Service clothing, it is all over ebay even if its some of the limited production pieces. If people want it, because of the brand name, it is incredibly easy to get. I'm not sure what kind of price that this clothing would be sold for, but anytime that I have seen it in shops, I've tried it on, made a note of the size and went back home and bought it off ebay for much cheaper. The only problem with ordering LS online is Lip Service's varying size range which seems to change with every line that they come out with. That's easily remedied by emailing the seller and asking for measurements. This, of course, is only my opinion on the price of LS clothing in stores, and some people may not be as comfortable to just order things online. I think that the takeoff of ebay is really hurting stores that are trying to sell LS stuff for a profit, unless the places I have seen are going for a really high profit margin; I only say this because I've seen a lot of stores that sold majority Lip Service items really having a hard time in the last year or two because they can't sell the clothing for the price that they are asking.
As for other designer names, I don't see nearly as much of them on ebay as what I do of Lip Service, so they would probably be a lot easier to sell for the price and not quite having the "I'm going to look like everyone else" feeling. Once again, this is all just my opinion.

As for men's clothing, most of what I have seen sold in stores by them is extremely expensive, so I don't know how much of it would sell, but I absolutely love the Shrine clothing that they have for men. The velvet shirts, pants, jackets, etc. are extremely nice, but what I've seen definitely comes with a price tag.

I would just like to second all the ideas that have been mentioned so far, especially the one-of-a-kind/custom-made stuff. That would be really awesome. I can't wait until this shop opens up.
