Bleh, I'll be catching it. I think it's going to have some redeeming features, but I'm not expecting much. I have to wonder though, why don't they pick videogames with a good background story. Don't get me wrong, I had a lot of fun playing the Doom games, but the background story isn't really all complex. Why not make a story out of...................... Oh wait, I think I just answered my own question.

if you cant look at the trailer, plot destruction, or the fact the rock is in it and say WOW WHAT AN EXPENISVE PIECE OF SHIT THEY JUST MADE then you deserve your money taken from you and your as dumb as the guy in doom three that cant hold a handgun and a flashlight at the same fucking time.

So, I take it you Fandangoed your tickets already...
But it all seriousness the fact that The Rock is in it makes me sad. I mean come on...That's not even a real stage name, and if it is...He should be sitting still and not talking, because that's what all the cool rocks do.

"Doom is like some kid came over and is using your computer and won't let you play…
Toward the end of the movie, there is a lengthy point-of-view shot looking forward over the barrel of a large weapon as it tracks the corridors of the research station. Monsters jump out from behind things and are blasted to death, in a sequence that abandons all attempts at character and dialogue and uncannily resembles a video game…" ~ Roger Ebert / October 21, 2005

Just checked Fandango, I'm heading up to visit my family in Lafollette today, and it's playing at their cheap theater. So I'm going to catch it there. I'll post a review when I get home. I've been hearing that it's actually pretty decent from people on Counter Strike servers. Of course, they could be 10 year old boys so I'm not getting my hopes up or anything.

So I went in with fairly low expectations, and it met them. Basically, it is kind of an Aliens ripoff with the whole space marine thing. It's decent on action and gore. It's of course low on story and acting. Although, oddly enough, the Rock is actually not as annoying as I thought he would be. The best part of the film is pretty much the 10 minute series from the first person view, which is also the most action of the film. For a dollar theater or rent, I would say okay. But I definitely wouldn't recommend full theater price, even at matinee.
