Nah, Pelancho's is definitely the best Mexican food youre gonna find around here, being raised in southern california I know my mexican food and theirs is really good, and their prices are good too, p.s. the flan is awesome there

I dig El Charro the most myself. They have the best enchiladas of any place in Knoxville I have tried.
I've never had anything from their menu I wasn't pleased with.

My vote goes for El Charro's as well. I've ate there on many occasions since high school and never had a bad experience.

I LOVE the salsa at El Charro's. It has become one of my favorite takeout restaurants. Cheap, and lots of food. It's always packed too, a good sign. Huge taquitos!!!

My vote for best in Knoxville... is in Oak Ridge; El Arriero on the turnpike. This is the closest I've found to the many family owned mexican restaurants in southern Texas.

Are you people smoking crack? El Charro is horrible! You can get better tasting food at Taco Bell for half the price!
I mean, for real. The cheese is disgustingly bland, the chicken they use is what I like to call "cat-food grade", the refried beans have less flavor than the grits at Waffle House... blah.
For cheap and decent just go to Burrito Diablo. You can pay $5 and get enough food for a day and a half, and it's actually decent quality.

Ewww. Their ground beef is way salty. Also, I asked for a side of tortilla chips and salsa, and they gave me those little round chips that you get with the congealed cheese from a can at the carnival!! For 3 bucks!!
However, Jalisco's in Oak Ridge is excellente!

There is also a Jalisco's in the same shopping center as Heads & Tails. We went there last Sat. Excellent food! Found out that alot of the recipes come from the manager's grandmother.

I'm not exactly known for having gourmet tastes (hey, peanut butter and mayo is cuisine to me) but the food at Cancun's on Broadway is good. So is their liquor. Mmm.
The food is also fairly cheap. I don't know about the liquor - I drank too much to remember.

I don't even know if it's still open, but there was a place on Papermill called Mexicali Rose. Everything was homemade except the tamales. Food was fantastic.
Next best I've had is Pelancho's. Good, cheap and they make the perfect gin and tonic.

Unfortunately, they closed about three years ago. That place was awesome. The group of us from work usually made a weekly trip there on Fridays.

I really like El chicos, they have great fajitas..well actually all of their food is great it's just not as cheap as places like El charro's. But El chico's food is more superior so it's worth the extra bucks (and they give you alot of food)

Has anyone checked out this place?
La Playa Mexican Restaurant
130 S Northshore Dr
Knoxville, TN 37919
(865) 584-4618
It's near where I work and didn't know if they had good fast service during lunch or if their food was tasty or not.

o and senior taco gets another vote from me. cause that cilantro cream dippy stuff kicks my arse. they seriously need to work on their chips though. kinda stale.
