Oh yeah. I dig this much more than what you are working on under the Recluse title, but variety is the spice of life - Keep going in all directions. I was dissappointed that the track cut off!

I don't listen to a lot of what is being created now in the noise/experimental genre. Gave Wolf Eyes a quick listen to see what that was all about, and it was not bad - Really dug a track they released called "Rotten Tropics."

But I did think of a few old bands as I listened to the link you posted. First though was of a DIJ song called "Smashed to Bits," then a bit of NON and very early C93. Not to say they sound anything alike, just that I was reminded of them.

I could definately get into some of this, but in moderation. I like the ebb against the chaos. Almost soothing actually. Not sure if I could handle a full decible assault, which is how I am sure it is meant to be experienced.

merzbow

sudden infant
and runs the val denham web page (val denham did all the early throbbing gristle art work, and now has been doing some art for grahams label , ie the new merzbow release)


we certainly aren't pioneers by any stretch of the imagination
but we've been around the block

Lmao! Hahaha! Not music (in my opinion) sorry. I create and delete tracks like this all the time. Where I admire the chaos of your track and the tracks I have created, its not very complex even for art.

Music is http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=Music. I can definately see where you call yourself an artist....but, by the definition of music....I can't see where you call yourself a musician. Once again just my opinion. Glad you have fun doing what you are doing. I do it sometimes as well. Where as its fun....its not very productive musically.

Just to play devil's advocate, from the dictionary entry you linked, music can also be:

"An aesthetically pleasing or harmonious sound or combination of sounds"

That could be ANYTHING so long as it is aethetically pleasing to any given listener. As you mentioned, we all have opinions on what we like. But what Black Meat releases is most certainly music. It may not be music you like, but it is pleasing enough to many people to actually have a genre, dozens of artists and labels and thousands of fans.

Not being catty here at all, I am truely curious. What are you expressing in the piece that is on Myspace?

by social and political issues

as well as personal issues that graham and i have
with family, ourselves, each other, our friends, others around us, etc


as for this piece in particular
given the time we recorded it was probably an action against coca cola
as we had discussed for quite some time during that period
of having a stage performance geared toward that

we haven't found the proper props as of yet
so that action is on the back burner for now

alot of what has been done on stage as of late
ranges from
pure esoteric and dadaist influenced
charges of personal greif that i've faced over the past year
with the loss of my grandfather and my uncle in the same month
and other random life changing events that i'd rather not go into
to much detail

this year i found myself shedding a lot of old skin
so it's been a very important one for me

so that's a lot of what i talk about lyricaly in the live settings

i'll even be getting a tattoo in dec to mark this year on my body forever

the number 25 circled by a serpent eating it's own tail
that in it's self is very esoteric yet has personal significant meaning
just like all of our actions

Could you give some more insite to this?
What is the exact message you are trying to convay, and how are you using the sound/music in expressing this?
For clarification, I'm not asking for the technical "how I did this" but rather what about the sounds you are creating, makes them express your message?
ie: I'ld like to hear your artistic interpretation on this piece.

coca cola
has one of it's biggest bottleing plants in columbia
in columbia the workers of that plant have no workers rights

the workers of this plant
have tried several times to start a union
to fight for workers rights

what happens when these people try to form unions?
columbian death squads are brought in to execute these people

how does coca cola combat this issue
to keep the workers of one of it's largest bottleing plants safe and happy

they don't


they turn a blind eye
and those people are replaced by others who don't ask questions
or start trouble









what does that sound like to you?

Exactly how many "noise"-related bands must I say I have listened to in order to satisfy your imaginary quota, then? Give me a concrete number. In the past 16 years I would guess I've listened to somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 noise or noise-related artists. I'm sure you've listened to a lot more, but it's not a micro-genre that I have a lot of interest in, with some notable exceptions, like Wolf Eyes, Lee Ranaldo's Scriptures of the Golden Eternity, Cabaret Voltaire's Live at the YMCA, stuff like that. In general I find the more ambient side of noise to be more engaging.
