You can't even say its anywhere close to the presence that Christianity has in the south. We are in the golden, jewel-encrusted buckle of the bible belt. For every 1 mention of rationalism, you've got 100 mentions of christianity. One fox news report, or a few posts on the sites you frequent does not mean it outweighs the other. If so, I'd like to move to whatever planet you are living on.

The reason for that is simple. Christianity is the worst of them all. I think all religions are silly, but christianity and islam seem to be the most over-the-top, irrational, hate and intolerance filled of all. You never see buddhists bothering other people or shoving their beliefs down anyones throat. Taoists aren't outside your local abortion clinic telling the women they are whores and sinners. Wiccans aren't standing by the funerals of fallen soldiers with "god hates fags" signs. Vampires (wtf?) don't damn all those who are gay and want to get married. And as far as I know, all buddhists, taoists, wiccans etc, COMBINED have not caused the senseless deaths and hate crimes that christianity and islam have.

Really, I find christianity to extremely hypocritical. Jesus taught love and 99.9 percent of christians are hate filled bigots.

Those who want to make it illegal for gays to marry and express their love to each other ="good christians"
Those who didn't want our schools desegregated= "good christians"
People who'd rather a child be born into a home that doesn't want them and can't take care of them = "good christians"
All religions are generally silly, but you mention aren't quite religions, buddhism is really more of a philosophy (not talking about tibetan). I think Wicca is ridiculous too, but my wiccan friends I'd take any day over Christians preaching at me. Religion is fine, just leave the rest of us out of it. If someone was posting anti-homosexual, anti-black, anti-mexican, anti-womens choice, etc, etc, I'd react the exact same way. I believe christianity to be a vehicle to hatred and intolerance of others who have every right as humans and americans to pursue their happiness and be left the fuck alone about it.
