Bitching about people bitching is still bitching. Pot, there is a Mr. Kettle on line 1 for you.
Seriously, I'm not bitching, not really. Just trying to get the point across that things could be done to make these nights better-attended and more inclusive.
As I've said before, I've met a lot of goth-punk-ish people in Knoxville who actively
avoid Sanctus. And it wouldn't take radical change to get them to attend.

And we have our first reply. anyone else want to incriminate themselves as a pissy person. After all thats why i posted it.

Being unable to avoid being pulled into the MALE-stom.
Point one: It does seem that the primary reason for begining these threads is not to address an issue for the purpose of change, but to start forest fires. This is implied by the title, and is perpetuated by the fact that out of 8 pages of dialogue on two threads the initiator has only posted three times.
In fact those are the only times that the initiator has posted in the ENTIRE forum at all.....PERIOD!
Second point: In my opinion, trivial as that may be, The only person who's opinion carries any weight with me on this topic is X.
He is the only one who has created an alternative venue. He can play whatever he wants, and he does.
Everyone else, including me, can bitch and whine or praise and worship...or just plain be apathetic. It doesn't really matter. You vote with your pocketbook.
I go to Sanctus, because everyone I want to see is there. I couldn't tell you what was played except for the songs I danced to, and the songs that I said to myself, "Oh MY Devils in HELL, what posessed them to play that?!"
I don't dance as much as I used to, and the music may be the reason.....that, or I am overcome by faeries.
I could always go to NV in Nashville, any time I so choose.
....and I choose not to.

Huh? I didn't think you were talking about me, I was just pointing out the hypocrisy exhibited by you (and others) when you get all angry and bitchy because you think other people are being angry and bitchy.
It's funny how the people who say "Get over it, it's just a dance night" are the ones who don't seem to realize this is "just a message board" and that calm discussion of things like this is not more a waste of time than, well, every thread in The Dumpster.

and that is why im sitting here laughing at everyone who takes this board, sanctus's playlists, or each others bitchy banter seriously. just have fun and live life the way you want to. that doesn't include trying to change the past by bitching about it. that is why i made a suggestion box. for ideas to be expressed in a positive manner and start anew.

I think it's funny that the most thoughtful and philosophical discussions on here often occur, and even originate in The Dumpster.
But I
do agree, and think that discussion of the events that we pay good money to go to is a Good Thing™.

In some cases, it should really be, "I wear black on the outside, because black is how my lungs are on the inside."
hehe.

Celticsmith...the reason the 'initiator' has only posted three times is becuse he has other, more important- fucking things to do all day
than revel in mastrubatory glee of "how great" the knoxgothic board is, posting over and over.
Furthermore-celticsmith-you know damn well i've posted on this board for a long time, but i barely ever even broke a hundred posts.
Remember the time b4 the first crash (i wonder why that happened) that there a handful of people with over 1000 posts?
'if memory serves you well' i think you were one of those.
I could be wrong but i only bring that up to illustrate some people just seem to have nothing better to do.
And let me remind you this is my third account-which i only signed up for-to voice this opinion.
As frustrated as it may make you there ARE a lot of people who agree with me that goth club should=goth music.
I have to admit i really enjoy the "forest fire," but for christs sake-that last thread of mine was what...well over 1000 views and tons of posts. Look for youself and see how no other topic has generated such conversation. We all can express opinions, right?
When you have something noteworthy or relevelant to say I hope i'm around.
We agree on respecting X's opinion as X was complaining how he got his night hijacked by bone.
(Sorry to sell you out like that, barry.)
DigitalPixie-I know the "bitching" seems to make me "unattractive."
That's my own tough luck. I'm sorry.I think you are right.
TheSym-I also think you are correct in that my tone could be a bit less...inflamitory (heh). But i disagree that there are any "powerbrokers" here. Yeah, a password can be changed in the digital world...but things fall apart, you know. What happens in the real world? But again sym, i could be more councilatory instead of aggressive.
Maybe the topic is wearing on some, but until DJ's get their act together it'll keep coming around time after time.
The problem is DJ ego is to big to conceed a simple "my bad" or "maybe your'e right, we'll try to shake it up a bit." That's all that's needed.
SO here's my final thought on the matter. The DJ's don't know what to do. There's a lot of problems that compound on them. Time limitations. Personal taste vs. crowd taste vs no taste (george michaels, heh) Anxiety over trying new shit that people won't dance to (a SURE-fire sign of DJ impotence)-then chosing to play it safe and every now and then a few people complain. Playing it safe seems like the safest bet right?
But there a few sad truths here. The biggest problem is that the DJ's are either:
a) too old. out of touch. ask kids babysitters what's cool.
or
b) can't afford to put time and money into researching new shit.
or
c) have no idea, really what they are doing and know what songs flow well together thanks to aping someone else.
or
d) just don't care-period-fumbling about as they want.
All in all i could be total dick head. Really, i'm Sorry. But i just have to speak my mind regardless of of if i'm going with the flow or not.
I think there are too fucking many people just happy they fit in somewhere.
SO with them everything is fiiiiiine.
some married and pushing forty-avoiding responsibility-not letting go to their youth-which is why you hear "safety dance" and "99 red balloons" over and over.
But i'm done.
Maybe the closing sanctus song should be "It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday."

You know, I don't mind constructive criticism of this forum, Sanctus, DJ playlists, or whatever. This thread has degererated into sniping attacks - and I don't have the patience for it.
If another moderator disagrees with me - feel free to unlock it.
