downbeforetheworld wrote:yo, i just quickly looked over dudes site and i didnt see any band that he liked listed. well he did have an "emo haircut" so he must have been an emo kid. we all know that you are your haircut. but that is really beside the point. The point is that if you listen to emo music ...you kill yourself. if you listen to goth music ...you shoot up your school. if you listen to rap music... you pimp hoes and bust caps in people's asses . if you listen to country music ...you fuck your sister and ride bulls. the music makes you do it. didnt you get the memo??

brilliant. absolutely brilliant.
i got that memo, my liver screams because im a punk mother fucker. :dup:

and they edited out most of the stuff from his profile after it started getting swarmed. it was alot bigger and had bad emo music streaming from it. lists, ect.

first of all, i ask that you forgive the grammar and possible spelling mistakes i'm likely about to make - i've been drinking. i don't know that i could touch upon this subject without something to buffer how i feel about it. that said...

suicide is not a tragedy. it is an action.

it is an action taken by someone who has issues, issues which cloud their thinking and make them believe that whatever is bothering them is more important than how the loss of their life will affect those around them. and who knows? they might be right. i mean, if someone suddenly went fucking psycho, and voices in their head decided that the only way to live their life was to plant a series of bombs in a highly populated area, making certain that no one was left alive...

yeah. i could see why, in a moment of sanity, they might off themselves. 1 person dead versus a random 100, or even 1,000? we might never know why they did it, but how can we be so sure that they weren't doing the best thing possible - in their minds - for their fellow human beings?

think about it.

a person who goes suicidal, and i don't just mean the "oh, i can't afford that 6' plasma tv, i don't want to live anymore. feh!" concept of being suicidal, but when someone really starts to take steps, thinks things through, maybe even starts to make plans and attempts to put things in order, they are frankly going to do it. and while i can understand how people might think it's selfish - believe me, i thought that myself for too many years - i can see the other side of that looking glass, as well. for example, if i thought i was a serious danger to someone i cared about, then i wouldn't give a shit about the emotional impact it might have on others.

and no, i'm not talking about emo-boy, or his 500 hundred followers. but as jack mentioned, in his own way, how the fuck can anyone decide what's going on in someone else's head? maybe what they've been feeling has grown so out of control that it's become psychosomatic. maybe they experience knives piercing their flesh at random moments, with increasing frequency. if they're like the vast majority of people these days, they're not going to up and tell you, "hey, i've been having these visions/hallucinations lately, and within the last week or so, they've been able to actually hurt me."

in short, all i'm saying is that you can never, and will never understand what another person is really going through, even if you video tape their every waking moment. and some things a person may be perceiving that they're going through, are enough to make one decide that it's time to bite the bullet - for real.

so yeah, i think that offing yourself over breaking up with a girlfriend is stupid.

but do i think there can never be times when ending your life is necessary, or even honorable? hell. fucking. no.

yeah but I really doubt people would do it for only this reason. people who do this were probably already going through a lot of pain and this was the thing that pushed them over the edge.

bunches and bunches really do kill themselves for that very same reason.

i mean, to the extent of saying, "my life was wonderful, i got with cracknugget, life was still wonderful, she dumped me, it all has to end."

seriously.

I got a message on myspace from some one I've never heard of talking about suicide. Why do I have the feeling it's some one from this board?

Maybe if some one spent less time making fake suicidal myspace profile and spent more time working on his social skills, he might get laid more often. I expected more from some one who fancies himself as clever.

How do you know who it is?

Post a link to it. If it's really that stupid, we should all get a chance to make fun of his/her poor satirical skillz.

Yeah, I'm mostly joking... mostly. Offer them meds & therapy appointments instead... unless you're a scientologist. ;)
