this anti smoking shit is fucking gay.
some of same people that say "I don't want to tell people what that put into their bodies" in defense of legalizing certain drugs suddenly get all retarded when it comes to cigarettes.

I think if you want to kill yourself its fine, but if it affects anyone else's health....its a different story.

Think of it as mercy...we are doing you a favor and saving you from having to wear diapers and having someone wipe your ass cause you can't remember your own name. Smokers are the silent angels of mercy.....

Smoking kills? And is Banned from a hotel chain? hmm
::lights Smoke:: ::hacks::
Yeah, I'll quit smoking ...how about I do something else instead...like...I don't know. Be pissed off and possibly cause some violence after a good 8hrs without one for a week or three. :)
But, honestly, if I was in a hotel...my kids would be there so...I'd step outside to smoke and find someone outside to kill with my second hand death. lol But, if my kids weren't in the same room...I'm lighting up...unless it bothers Mo. I already rarely smoke in resturants, didn't really piss me off to do so.
But, I really have a hard time believeing with the requirements for air filters in most hotels, that someone lighting up- in the next room is gonna shorten your life. (And if I am wrong please correct me about this. Maybe with some Hotel second hand smoking in other rooms death stats, if there is such a thing.) Most of the hotels I've stayed at have a smoking level or 5, and the rest are non smoking, so I'm kinda mssing the point of totally banning it.
Yeah I aggree that smoking in Night clubs sucks...makes it so you cannot breath after awhile or see...but, hell, the fog machines are bad too. (Sorry I have no new club exp, but from what I understand you guys go to the eletric Ballroom now...dust factors are bad there as well as the fact its a freaking warehouse.)
I see this honestly as one more way people's freedoms are being taken away...both smokers and nonsmokers alike. yesterday it was no to alcohol, then yes, then no to drugs, then sometimes...then no to porn, then sometimes, then no to pagans, then sometimes...etc. Its kinda sick how many people get offended over misc BS and people decide to ban crap, now that I think about it. Maybe we should find away to ship me off this planet along with the people I care about so I don't have to read some of the BS that happens in the world. lol In short kill me already, damn.
And yes if I see someone cover there nose etc, unless I'm in my home, I will put out my legal death mechant narcotic. Members of a gothic board afraid of dying from second hand smoke hehe funny.

Here's the deal:

I'm a smoker. My problem isn't the ban on smoking, my problem is that the GOVERNMENT is doing it. If individual enstablishments want to ban smoking on their premises or relegate it to a certain room, or whatever, it's fine with me. I have no problem making my own decision on whether or not I frequent those establishments (just as non-smokers *should*).

The government should not be sticking it's nose in this issue. Really, if they are going to ban smoking in public establishments because of second-hand smoke concerns, then they might as well ban driving. After all, more people die in car accidents than are claimed to have died from second hand smoke.

Let me reiterate: I'm all for restaurant, bar, whatever owners making their own choice as to whether or not they will allow smoking on their premises. I am NOT for the government making these choices for them (us).

as far as i know, it is the individual businesses that have the right to choose whether or not they want thier businesses to be non or..not. I may be outdated however.

I personally dont think that smoking will ever be illegal, the government makes way too much tax money off it, but if anything..i think people will just lose interest in it..probably not this generation, maybe not even our kids..but with a combination of global warming, shitty air and then trying to smoke on top of it? I think our grandkids, while speaking sideways out of thier air masks, will probably laugh at the prospect of lighting up.

That's awesome. I think I remember seeing something like that long ago & far away.

We all breathe in tons of terrible crap in life times & yeah, second hand smoke is far from healthy, but the industrial pollution our state is sooo incredibly lax on & the auto emissions worry me a helluva alot more than cigs. Then there's radon. Its naturally all over the place in this area & if you live in a basement dwelling where its present & smoke, you're 4x as likely to develop lung cancer than if you just smoked elsewhere.

The numbers of smokers have dropped significantly over the last decade or 2, but its not going away completely & we can't ship them off to another planet, so more establishments should have separate areas where smokers can indulge & nonsmokers don't have to be exposed if they so choose. We have the technology. We can make it work.

Now about those emissions standards...

Actually I know plenty of people with enough self control to not get shit faced when they go to bars. In fact, most of the time I go to bars its to dance or to see a band, not in fact, to get shit faced. The occasional drink is not bad for you, I believe its good for the kidneys even.

Its all about moderation.

i understand that. not everyone is the same. i'm just speaking of the general public, not the few sensible people that might exist in the world. some people just don't know when to quit. and if they are the ones who turn around and tell me i can't have a cigarette when i'm enjoying my drink.....well i'd just give them the :fuckoff: and call them a hypocrite.

if everyone practiced moderation in all of life's pleasentries and/or vices this world would be a much different place. but than again this is america after all the so called land of tolorance......what the hell happened?

Hell YaI
In fact we should open a bar where if someone lights up, anyone who doesn't smoke MUST go outside to protect them from second hand smoke, till everyone is done smoking.
Could be real fun in the winter, all of us smokers can stand at the front window looking out at the non-smokers shivering out in the cold. We can then point at our smokes and go hey light one up and you can come back inside and get warm!
