well ok.. i did some research thanks to the all mighty internet and i will say that i guess i didn't research back far enough before i started running off at the mouth.
many of the places that i have looked up said that emo came from a band named Rites of Spring in 1985
http://www.imsoemo.com/deepelm.htm
http://www.alt-rock-hub.com/Rites_of_Sp ... 00JNN.html
but also, it is shown to me that some people don't like to think emo is from one set band.
http://www.angelfire.com/emo/origin/
others think genesis started the movement... yes genesis
http://www.newartillery.com/sd/columns/ ... thesea.htm
so will we ever find the true meaning of the emo movement. probably not .... should it matter? in my opinion, only if you are a emo fan.... or you are interested in learning the origions of all kinds of music.
sorry junkie christ for running off at the mouth before i did my research....

its fine dear, and the debate is more RoS vs a collection of bands claiming they had the sound first. genesis is the extremist take.
ive been doing some extra homework on this one as of late...

Off topic completely, but what the fuck happened to music? I mean, I listen to the radio, & there is nothing experimental at all. Nothing that is off in it's own element. What happened to bands doing new things? Everyone is copying what's selling, & I personally hate it. While I know everyone here realizes it, & I don't have to write this, I am getting pissed! It's just sad that the closist things to "new" musical ventures are fucking Linkin Park & The White Stripes. The latter of which I don like, but fuck, everytime a band comes out that has a new sound, if no one else copys it, it becomes obsolete. Fuck that! Sorry for wasting your time.

You know and people wonder why music is shared on the internet rather than bought in a store.....becuase it all sucks.....personally I dont think enough of anything out right now to spend 10.99-15.99 for my listening pleasure....with the exception of OUtkast (I could download it, but I think they deserve my money).....and beleive it or not Christina Aguilera.......I havetn not liked anything she has put out on her new album, Im scetchy to buy it but it seems somewhat of a new twist on her sound to me....and I like it.......and maybe AFI .....other wise,.......no one else deserves a dime~~~~

its a sad state of affairs when i think that caputred by robots (HE BUILT A BAND FOR FUCKS SAKE) and afi (when all the hardcore bands went poppunk, these guys said fuck you we like 80s goth as much as 80s punk and we still like hardcore so we may lose every fan but we think its cool....BIG BALLS. and it worked too, bigger balls.) are the bastions of musical integrity
reread that sentence a few times.
radiohead was in it for me until hail to the thief
music is too industry controlled but on the otherhand the underground has never been this powerful so if you redirect your bitching into enforcing the opposition....
we could overtake them.
but noone listens to me.
