Punk rock?

If it's not covered by one of those other categories, you should probably talk about it here. Be nice.

Quick question, seriously what's the difference in ridiculing George Bush and the Queen,

theres not a difference
at all
and i'm not praising one or the other
the points about "the message" were brought up
so i played along

wether or not it's the same
or wether or not we have problems in america
doesn't not change the opinion i have that punk rock is dead
nor does your point sway my opinon

try again

and rotten calls himself irish
again read his book
im not just making the shit up
these were words from his own mouth

we can either say yes he is
no he's not
like little kids all day
or you can get your facts straight

and do you even know who Euronymous was

and 2000 punk songs on an ipod sounds like an oxymoron to me
not very impressive
why don't you get some new shit on your ipod instead of sucking iggy pops dick all day
i'd rather be your enemy than hear you call me friend

i think the biggest problem with this thread are most of you are attacking with blinders on
and the rest of you are getting defensive and posting via knee jerk reaction

punk is dead
doesn't mean it wasn't good
and i didn't like it

i have a lot of punk records myself
go to punk shows
so on and so on

but what i'm really trying to convey is
why do people keep rehashing the stuff from the late 70's
or the hardcore from the 80's

this is almost 2005
if your telling me your gonna make a punk band
who do you want it to sound like

(if you answer this question with an example of some punk band, then you allready fail)

do something new and exciting
if you really want to make some type of change
don't you think a lot of people would prefer to hear you preach in a new way
vs. the same shit we've heard a dozen times

and if it's the message that's so important
why not make more accessible music so more people hear the message

it's like blackmetal kids thinking they are gonna tear down the moral majority and christian right with a black metal album that sells 1000 copies
not gonna happen
wash off the corpse paint and call it a day
i'd rather be your enemy than hear you call me friend

Again, I'm upset by the insistence that punks (or the majoirty of them) are more interested in violence than anything else. I do know some who fit that bill, a couple of close friends, in fact. But I know more who are very well read, thoughtful and politically active people. I'm not claiming to be hardcore myself. Although I still listen to a lot of the older music, I've changed. Hell, the world has changed. I love music and this is some of the music I feel most intensely about. So sue me.

I like the way you put that.
And I don't see anything wrong with having a discussion about subjects that people are apparently passionate about.

Just because it's your "opinion" doesn't mean it's everyone elses. But I do think you make some valid points.

This thread makes me fucking laugh my ass off.

Who really fucking cares, if you like it, then you like it. If not, fuck off. I personally like the fits, DK, iggy, the ramones and black flag. I'm much of a rockabilly person myself, which, made punk in the basics anyway. So with that being said, everyone get over yourselves. People have to buy the megaselling super giants, and people have to deny that they used to listen to the fits religiously.

"One ,two I'm looking at you and there ain't nothing I miss,
three , four I'll show you the door, for you no longer exsist"
Cluse, sorry I don't get up at 10 for this type of thing, awww were you up worshipping the desert war god?Yeah caught the mayhem reference, not bad, that's why i had to sign my name that way.Not bad at all and to think I've not heard that one today. So "Genesis" can I call you a hippocrite when it comes to ideas about rehashing or do I have to throw in a<insert childish giggle> Chistopherson or Harry Partch reference for you to get it.Blow Iggy how very mature of you, when frustrated in a conversation tell someone to fuck off or suck their dick, the first sign of an intellectual weakling(with some serious issues I may add).Do you sit through an hour's worth of red lights waiting for it to turn green, hmmm do you?I'll take the Stooges over "noise" any day(others must agree, the three of them still on the road w/ Watts and have another album in the works w/ Rubin),and nice back step on the message issue, cool if the Monkees errr. Pistols did it,getting in line when it's Jello on Reagan or George(hey look me over, lend me an ear I'm a conservative).
One last thing before I get ready for my show, can I call myself a Cherokee,my grandmother was,I always wanted to be Tonto he is after all the epitome of my sang froid.I can use their griefs as my agenda.
X-(btw I got the Western Civ. stdk,& vid it has 3 really good Fear songs live,as well as many others let me know if you want a dub) I agree with you, who cares and at this point it's totally become a childish I know you are but what am I.And I honestly hate the message board bitch and bully bullshit, cheers.

P.S. Sara-Are you a Scull Soup fan,are you from that area? Can't wait for the Bluecat's show with TL.

I love you.

Did you know that the lead singer of Fear played Mr. Body in the movie Clue?

oh and fear does have one other msg in their music, to insult new york as much as possible.

(i love living in the city, new yorks all right, ect....)(
Making a HONDA fast is like coming out of the closet, yeah you might suprise a few people; but in the end.. your still gay.

Speaking of kick ass rockabilliy, isn't it Hank III's birthday?Really good exchange last night on his website between him and Waylon's son.Apparently Shooter's new album has similar lyrics to Hank's such as Cunt back in Country and Dick In Dixie.Hank was trashed it was great.

If you want to check out some of their best stuff, check out their album called "Walk Together, Rock Together" (I know, it's a silly ass name for a punk album).

obviously the people having the conversation
bring something to the table or find something else to do

barry also said

that has nothing to do with whats being talked about
and i'm not sure if that was some type of jab at me since mitch and i used to listen to the misfits all the time
but if it is
i'm not denying it all
that's not even what the conversation is about
read the thread again and use a couple of your brain cells that haven't been spilled onto a wrestleing mat yet

I'm not ignoring any of the ass-backwards posts on here, I just haven't read them
my computer died, and I'm not going to read three pages worth of posts just because I missed them

but Junkie Christ, if you'd like to meet me I'll PM you my number and we can hang out sometime
same goes with anybody else that wants to get together, you fucks here in Knoxville need a good punk scene, dammit
once my band gets our shit together(probably late january, early feb, dependant on when we can get a drummer), you 'll have at least one more band, but people gotta start getting together and shit
I went to see Dirty Works and Speedshifter at that Urban Bar and cafe, good show
dirty works didn't really have a big crowd going, everybody was sorta sittin around and shit, but when speedshifter got up, people were slapping each other's asses and hanging off the pipes on the ceiling and shit
that's how it should be
and shit
I'm running all off topic
