Jack wrote:The misconceptions about Christianity in this thread are staggering.
a lot of it depends on what sort of christianity you are following
i was raised in a non-denominational old testament church. most anything i say christian related is from that perspective.

In the Christian Bible, it clearly states to follow your government...Unless it goes against the teachings of God...

The Bible also clearly states that Christians should live together and share all their wealth, "to each according to his need". Sounds pretty Communist to me.

"Marx...taught that God was a projection of man's radical alienation: from himself, from his
labor, and from a human community cruelly divided by class barriers. Man's salvation, in
Marx's view, thus lay within history, in the creation of a mundane utopia whose coming
would be hastened when men were no longer bewitched by the false promises of a kingdom
to come in the time beyond time."

Just because Marx wasn't Christian doesn't mean some Christians weren't Communist in their approach to life.
I mean, the Book of Acts is a little older than Marx. Just a little, mind you.

Dude, you really like to argue for its own sake, I gather. Obviously I wasn't saying that the Bible established the philosophy of Communism in every form which we now see it. Fucking duh. I was saying that the disciples of Jesus specifically espoused a certain lifestyle in the beginning of the Book of Acts which is fundamentally Communist (i.e. "We should all pool our money and divide it up equally." )
And I only did that to point out how many radically different and sometimes contradictory things the Bible says, for the purpose of making the point that to discuss "Christians" in such broad, general terms is pretty ignorant and inaccurate.

Yes they are all supposed to be equal and of the same essence, just with different roles according to the Christians I live around. So maybe it just depends on the individual Christian, but if Jesus was just a regular person filled with the Holy Spirit, then why is he said to be seated at the right hand of the Father to this day, and what is the diff. between him and other Christians who claim to be spirit-filled. (Jesus supposedly poured out the Spirit for each person to receive)???

Nope. I was always having to clarify my position; I was rarely, if ever, trying to change anyone else's mind. Only attempting to get people to understand my own opinion.

It really does depent on the type of Christianity you follow. Some believe they are all the same, others believe they are all three completely seperate....I tend to believe they are together but seperate at the same time. I'm non-denominational and have very liberal thinking for a Christian.

Having received a complaint about this thread, and not being in the mood to do more than skim it briefly, I'm going to do three things.
1. Thread dumpstered. It's that silly.
2. Thread locked. I don't want any more complaints about it.
3. It's time for the group warning...
So, as most of you are aware, KnoxGothic.com doesn't allow you to use this forum for personal attacks. There are a few personal attacks in this thread. Those of you who did it already know you're responsible, and you need to KNOCK IT THE FUCK OFF.
Thank you,
