two new records yesterday
Hair Police - Constantly Terrified 12"
Forget reason. Forget Logic. Forget balance. Be Aware: Hair Police's 'Constantly Terrified' - not a record but an event- is available this spring on Troubleman Unlimited. Like a Molotov cocktail in slow motion Constantly Terrified emultes and incinds the band into a revolutionary action - with no cause. Like a rotten barrel of wine- Constantly terrified ferments over 4 lengthy pieces only to develop a black hole of a plot. After the devastating Obedience Cuts, Hair Police revealed that they were noise disguised as punk, but were really jazz. Loose yet forceful drumming with a pounding barrage like guard dogs smelling an intruder CT propels the group past noise, punk, and jazz into psychedelic nihilism. Fist in the air to what message? Chant for what purpose? Lethargy? Constantly Terrified replaces drums for turbulence, removes electronics for fever, dismantles guitar for trauma, smothers voice for terror. Home brewed electronics prowler John Olson of Wolf Eyes performs guest saxophone on the title track. CT isn't cool, isn't fun, isn't entertainment. It's a bad trip. A horrible trip. Something to be avoided. Get my drift here folks? It is new music for inverted hedonists and the withdrawal of twenty first century American youth
and...
Dead Machines - Futures 10"
DEAD MACHINES is the duo of JOHN OLSEN (WOLF EYES, American Tapes, a million other bands) and TOVA OLSEN (ex WOODEN WAND AND THE VANISHING VOICE, also a million other bands). Together--with the use of handmade instruments and electronics, tape manipulation, sax, gong, and loud volume--deliver music by insaniacs for insaniacs. CD limited to 750 copies, vinyl limited to 500 copies. One - time pressing.
