ok - i read all the fun "critiques" on the music being played at the various functions.. i have yet to go to one yet.. soon though..
i used to DJ myself and i am curious as to what you critics would consider for your ideal playlist...

ill begin with my own "ideal nite out"..

tones on tail - you the night and the music
batman beyond main theme
front 242 - Don't crash
severed heads - hot with fleas
the cure - a forest
fischerspooner - emerge (dave clarke remix)
cocteau twins - heaven or las vegas (alpha conspiracy remix)
sioxie and the banshees - swimming horses
dead can dance - east of eden
aphex twin - window licker
squarepusher - my red hot car
a split second - rigor mortis
alien sex fiend - ignore the machine
bjork - isobel ( dmitri remix)
depeche mode - dream on (bushwhacka tuff guy mix)
sisters of mercy - this corrosion
love and rockets - mirror people
clan of xymox - a day(classic goth mix)
assemblage23 - i ran (A flock of seagulls cover)
section 25 - looking from a hilltop

this would change to suit the crowd's mood - and i would probably toss in ... prince - "erotic city" somewhere just cause its a cool song
in general....

so your opinions of my set...... and your own examples...
please...

I like most of the music there, except for Prince. But hey, to each their own.

My ideal night out?

One dark room. Lots of free liquor. Yep, that's it. :D

I have to agree with him there, Free being the major word!!
Maybe a few nakid people too would be nice with some glow sticks.

Overplayed songs must die.

How about "Slice of Life" instead of "Bela Lugosi's Dead", "Handsome Devil" instead of "How Soon Is Now", any Daniel Ash solo song instead of Peter "effing overrated" Murphy, and "Golden Dawn" instead of "Every Day is Like Halloween"?

very nice choices - i added the overplayed stuff to see if there was gonna be a reaction..... didn't get any from my first set list posting...
i like the smiths "handsome devil" and "this charming man" quite a bit....

bauhaus "slice of life" , "stigmata matyr(remixed)" ooh ! or "passion of lovers"would be sweet as well....

Yeah, "Passion of Lovers" is pretty firmly Goth as far as Bauhaus songs go. It's about death and stuff.

I never actually liked "Bela Lugosi's Dead" and haven't known many people who did, either. Even if I didn't know it's a joke song, it still sounds like one. I always thought their more glam stuff was way better. I really want to hear their cover of "Ziggy Stardust" next Sanctus. I mean, everyone loves David Bowie, right?

They could be on crack... or deaf... or deaf and on crack.
