It's a weekly gothic fetish night of all things. So far the website isn't working and that's one pooh pooh against it. Still it's striking my fancy. Anyone got news on it?

first ive heard and its right beside me. far as i know, the only "scene" thing here is the damn weekly goth night at rafters and its an atrocity of wording and the worst collection of fuckups for 200 miles in any direction.....if this is in ANY WAY tied to that, youd have to be a total fool to waste the gas.

Rafters kicks ass.....thats the best place in the entire world to wrestle at......at least so far with where i've been. Its like the ecw arena, got that nice big stage to come out at.....walk down the stairs with people on all sides of you...nice nice nice place....
of course i am talking about wrestling, and not some dance night....so it could potentially suck ass the rest of the time.

Okay... I'll reiterate.
Not to salm anyone....
DTR is the new "name" for Downtown Rafters...
It *is* a cool venue. It is NOT run worth a damn...
Two reasons:
1- if you are gonna try to get what little 'scene' there is in JC, you have to start out cheaply. My opinion on $5 cover for a new unproven experiment when there is only 4-6 ppl in the place for *the entire evening* is a little crazy... Get the ppl in for free, give 'em cheap drinks, (hahahahaa!!!) and try to build it up..
2- there are not enough ppl in JC to support this kind of thing. Monthly, maybe... I guess when you open a HotTopic in a given city, you must also by default start a goth/fetish club as well...
JC, you recall, we went there.. I've been 3 times... It's nothing to waste *my* time/gas on, and I friggen live up here! Yes, I know, I should support it, or not bitch... blahblahblah... The point is, it's not gonna work when the owners are trying to make tons of $$ off it to start. I would go and help build it if there was a point. But again, there are other places to go for the time/money/music/ppl...Our prsonal fave is A Hideaway downtown.. Kinda punk-ish, with a good mix of ppl. goths/punks/rockers etc... nice neighborhood bar. always live music... great owners, and killer beer prices... ALWAYS
anyway... I have so far been unimpressed by "DTR" and will remain so as long as it continues down it's current path. I will occaisionally stop to check it out, but there is nothing to see... Really....

dtr....downtownrafters... yea im a moron.
i would like to beat this into the ground. ive stayed based outta this area my whole life. trying to support it is STUPID. the types of people that your trying to target are scum. just wait, youll see. what u think i got the name junkie from hanging out with highclass? NOPE. in Johnson motherfuckin City baby. there is no scene. the only people worth a damn are a hideaway (note vampys reasons). SUPPORT THEM. this shit at rafters is 4-6 people of shit. when me and dave went, i didnt want to go because one of the biggest stalkers in the area was walking in to help run it. i had to be in the parking lot once to hate it. one of the people that go weekly i see alot and ask for a rollcall, while not all bad, predominatly the people id keep my friends the fuck away from.
you wanna support JCity? support A hideway... good mix of people, great bands no ones heard of....
AND VAMPY IS RIGHT. THEY STARTED THAT SHIT OVER A DAMN HOT TOPIC. that is pretty much confirmed now.
now for wresting or out of town bands, goto DTR/rafters. its good for that. other than that? ask some of KG who used to go there whats in JCity. ask them. why am i posting this? cuz i care about the well being of those around me. i grew up around this target audience. im forewarning you. anyone asks me for directions to this stupidity, oh ill tell you where to go. and the people on KG that have been also do NOT know this area's red zones of oh-shit-dom. anytime this has been brought up to me, ive heard those red-zones. ive spend my YEARS trying to avoid the few scattered weirdos around here that try to pass themselves off..... you wanna open the door for these guys to walk into your community? HAHA. ill have no part.
and if the other JC residents post in this defending it, ill tell you the same thing i told you in person, YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT.

I didn't get to go last week b/c I was driving down to Atlanta that night, but I have been 2 times in the past month, and basically, there have been about 8-10 people there, essentially all of whom, I know.
I admit, Fletcher (the DJ J.C. mentioned) is a scumbug, but all truth be told, I have hardly even seen him there the past 3 times I have been. No one talks to him except that girl that is always with him. Sure, he's scum, but ... it's not like anyone even notices him there.
Usually, the crowd consists of a friend of mine named Jessie and her roommate Kim, the drag queen ("Katana", I believe), and then usually a couple more friends of mine and possibly me
. Crowd is never too large, but you can't expect much more than that in JC for a "goth night".
DTR's drinks have been notoriously overpriced, but the prices have, thankfully, gone down the past weeks. I actually got a Citrona for 2 bucks rather than a ridiculous 3.50 last time I was there. Beers have been much cheaper last few times (not sure if this is still the case, though), as well. If DTR could get their act together and run the place right - they could actually make something out of Goth Night. They have done some things to improve - but there are still lots of problems. And the DJs are far from being great. But, I have had more fun there on Sundays than I would anywhere else in town, despite its faults.
If you're bored, come out there on Saturday. If this were in Atlanta, I'd give DTR's goth night a 1 on a scale to 10, but in JC, I'd say more like a 5. But it can be made better. The owner is willing to listen to suggestions.

well it appears some of the scum in the area i thought it would attract... most still have only shown once or twice. i but there are a few scumbags that still reside....
i still disapprove until further iinspection into the matter.

Apparently, quite a few people notice me, if it causes this much attention.
Now, here's a suggestion....
If you want a scene in the Tri-Cities, try building one yourself. Someone proposed the idea to me of starting a scene, I started one for them. If a few "elitists" want to try their own, go ahead and build one yourself. I work 24/7 on putting some show or something together for everyone in the Tri-Cities. There's about to be a ton of huge bands come through this area, who's paying ofr it, and organzing it and promoting it out of pocket? I am. So, if you don't like the scene, don't be in it. People make the scene, and people destroy the scene. It doesn't matter to me either way, as long as the few that support any scene, support it and have fun. If the 25 people who regularly attend "Luscious Apparatus" have a blast, then I know I did my job of promoting a decent show. The 400+ people who attended Festevil 2K3 back in April had a great time minus a select one or 2, who had to start some type of problem because their band couldn't be fit into the bill, or they didn't like that "insert band name here" wasn't playing, or their band thought they were rockstars and couldn't have in-ear monitors, and 15,000 lights. Simply put, if you don't like the scene, make your own.
