Does anyone know an insurance adjuster? I want to get a jump on the totalled salvage of a particular model of car, so I can plunder it's sexy bits, like the engine and tranny.

You may also want to check with a larger tow service. Some of the ones who work larger wrecks and do Interstate work will buy stuff they tow or be able to put you in touch with the owners of the totalled vechicles. The owners could sell you the vechicle instead of taking the like $300 the insurance company will give them for the carcus.

I checked on this for an Esclade for a donor vechicle for my Hearse, it needs a motor and the Vortec 6000 is just plum sexual!

Well, how did it work out for you on the Escalade? Thing is, the rednecks at the wrecker yard or at the boneyard will probably be more hip to the hotrodding value of what I want ('01-'02 Camaro Z28 LS1 5.7l v8 and T-56 6-spd tranny), and will, therefor, want to gouge me harder. These cars are wrecked regularly by drunken fratdaddies and rednecks, and the use of the salvaged powertrains is a popular topic in the magazines recently. I was thinking the insurance people would likely not know or care about the hotrodding use of salvaged stuff. But if it worked out for you, please let me know what it ended up costing you.

Never got to it cause up untiil recently I've hot had a really real paying gig. It pays to get in good with the dudes at the junkyard and the tow yards though.

I was able to talk a guy at a salvage yard to sell me a whole truck when they usually don't sell whole vechicles at all. Just go in and say you need this and that and these off a car and once the list gets to be too much they'll sell you the whole car. I didn't buy the truck cause it had the wrong motor, needed a 4.6 and it had the tiny 2. something in it.

OK, then who knows someone in ownership of, or in charge of a wrecker yard or boneyard?
