I ran across this and it was well ... disturbing on several levels. I thought it might spark some "intelligent" or at least entertaining fodder.

DO NOT WATCH IF YOU ARE A DEVOUT BUSH ( and no I'm not talking about the nether-region bush!!!) SUPPORTER.

Thanks for posting these. The first site has a bunch more flash movies about Bush- looks like someone dislikes him more than I do!

And I checked the Republican Party's platform as pertaining to religion- it's all true.

Highlights of the Texas GOP Platform, 2002

"The Republican Party of Texas reaffirms the United States of America is a Christian Nation ..."

1. GOVERNMENT

"We reclaim freedom of religious expression in public on government property, and freedom from government interference."

Support government display of Ten Commandments.

"A strong and vibrant private sector [should be] unencumbered by excessive government regulation"

Oppose Campaign Finance Reform

Oppose any form of gun control

Abolish:

* Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms;
* position of Surgeon General;
* EPA;

2. ECONOMY

Abolish the dollar in favor of the gold standard.

Abolish the IRS

Eliminate income tax, inheritance tax, gift tax, capital gains, corporate income tax, payroll tax and property tax.

Repeal minimum wage law.

3. UNITED NATIONS

" ... we immediately rescind our membership in, as well as all financial and military contributions to the United Nations."

We should " ... evict the United Nations from the United States and eliminate any further participation."

4. FAMILY

"We believe that traditional marriage is a legal and moral commitment between a man and a woman. We recognize that the family is the foundational unit of a healthy society and consists of those related by blood, marriage, or adoption. The family is responsible for its own welfare, education, moral training, conduct, and property."

"The practice of sodomy tears at the heart of our society..." "The party oppose[s] decriminalization of sodomy."

Oppose all forms of abortion - even in cases of rape or incest.

"We unequivocally oppose United States Senate ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child."

5. EDUCATION

Support official prayer in public schools

Oppose Early Childhood Development Programs

"We support ... a program based upon biblical principles..."

 Terminate bilingual education

"Since Secular Humanism is recognized by the United States Supreme Court as a religion ... Secular Humanism should be subjected to the same state and federal laws as any other recognized religions."

6. THE ENVIRONMENT

Oppose the "myth" of global warming

Reaffirm "the belief in the fundamental right of an individual to use property without governmental interference"

Oppose EPA management of Texas air quality

7. THE MIDDLE EAST

" ... Jerusalem is the capital of Israel ... " therefore, the United States should move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

... so... Toronto's a great city... lotsa stuff to do there... hmm...

holy shit nexxus, i disagree with almost every thing in that platform.
although i did like
The practice of sodomy tears at the heart of our society...

rather graphic. i suppose they could have said "tears at the annals of our society"

i think this country is in dire need of a revolution.

Heheheh, like those bumper stickers that say, "Regime change begins at home."

Personally, it *is* really scary, what all is going on here with Church n' State separation... There are millions of people pushing to completely repeal half of the First Amendment. The Texas GOP is only a drop in the bucket, really.

All I can say is: If these goals of the GOP actually become realized, I'm moving. Far, far away. Screw you guys, I'm goin' to Toronto.

...btw... this is all the more reason to write your representatives... ;)

I readily await a day when the whole world lives under the idea that if you can survive then you don't need a government. think about it. it would be like one big video game. if you live to see the next day you are doing good. protect your young, feed your family, go to work, eat a meal, go to sleep, And repeat. Life isn't that fucking hard. Why do we need people who don't even know us telling us that crossing the street at three o clock in the morning when the little guy isn't flashing is jay walking and give you a fucking ticket? live fucking life the way life is to be lived and one day it will go away, or we can just make a new country and vote people off the island.

Did you get one on the Strip? The UTPD (insert joke here) gets anal about that at the beginning of each new semester. It has something to do with at least one person getting hit by a car each semester.

Republicans = Bad humans! Go sit in a corner!

1. GOVERNMENT

"We reclaim freedom of religious expression in public on government property, and freedom from government interference."

I agree with this, but only if by "religious expression" they include ALL religions.

Support government display of Ten Commandments.

Of course, by this they obviously mean that they don't. :?

Oppose any form of gun control

Yeah, sure. Why not? Just get rid of the guns, and you have no need of control..

Abolish the dollar in favor of the gold standard.

Can someone tell me why this isn't a good idea? I'm rather ignorant on the subject of modern economics...

All three of these are complete horse shit.

5. EDUCATION

Support official prayer in public schools

Again, only if they include all religions.

6. THE ENVIRONMENT

Oppose the "myth" of global warming

Reaffirm "the belief in the fundamental right of an individual to use property without governmental interference"

Oppose EPA management of Texas air quality

What, these people want to destroy our world?

Nexxus23 wrote:... so... Toronto's a great city... lotsa stuff to do there... hmm...

I'm for taking our goddamn country back.

Nope. I believe the atheists would have a big bone to pick about that.

Support government display of Ten Commandments.

Of course, by this they obviously mean that they don't. :?

Exactly.

Abolish the dollar in favor of the gold standard.

Can someone tell me why this isn't a good idea? I'm rather ignorant on the subject of modern economics...

In a nutshell, when the dollar is backed by gold standard, it becomes subject to the constant change of gold price in the international marketplace. Think 1929.

All three of these are complete horse shit.

Pretty much.

5. EDUCATION

Support official prayer in public schools

Again, only if they include all religions.

Let's not forget the atheists...

6. THE ENVIRONMENT

Oppose the "myth" of global warming

Reaffirm "the belief in the fundamental right of an individual to use property without governmental interference"

Oppose EPA management of Texas air quality

What, these people want to destroy our world?

Well, why not? They'll all be dead by the time things get really shitty...

You know what's really scary?

That statement is in direct violation of the Patriot Act- if an FBI agent sees this, they'll take you out.

Heh, they've been messing w/ the First Amendment... just wait for Patriot II... *:shudder:*

See, the thing is that the atheists logically shouldn't have a problem with that; they have as much right not to have religious expression as anyone would be entitled to have religious expression.

But then, humanity isn't logical.

i don't know about the rest of you, but i'm all for a couple of things from that list... namely:

Abolish the IRS

Eliminate income tax, inheritance tax, gift tax, capital gains, corporate income tax, payroll tax and property tax.

the rest of the list can be used for toilet paper, but I like those ideas. if they think that the government is a branch of the church - then let them pass around offering plates instead of forcing us to pay taxes.

Er... The first thing is just scary. The second one is funny.

REASON#2 to move to Canada.

Reason#1 is the level of gun violence.

Gun Control = Let's disarm the honest people in the US, and let's not forget people that hunt, and 3/4th the military's snipers

i get at least one a year due to the fact that some times i stand in the street. Not on the strip yet but soon, I can feel it.
