We can have kareoke again.......

Starting next Monday,
There will be Goth friendly kareoke at Giant Panda.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I miss having a weekly, indoor social event. Well, although kareoke is not my absolute favorite thing in the world, I do like watching everyone else sing and getting to talk to everybody.
Therefore, if anybody wants to come and drink, eat and socialize in a darkened, frat boy-free enviroment, show up at Giant Panda on Monday night. And you can get a hug from me.
With Love,
Ex Mys
Call, PM or AIM me if you have questions.

Well,
If he would be so kind as to return the call of the owner of Giant Panda, then yes, he shall be the DJ.

I have to assume that it will be.
Ooh! How about this..... show up anyway. ? If he calls the owner back, he will be the DJ. If he doesn't its his own fault, and we can make the other DJ play something interesting.
[mild rant]
That's something else I wanted to mention in a nice way. As some of you know, I decided to try out the other Panda kareoke night. I will admit that the first two nights sucked. Oddly enough, the last time a crowd of us showed up, everyone but me sat at the bar, then decided that no one was singing anythng they liked and left. Sadly, about 10 minutes thereafter, the good songs started. Even
I sang. If they had been either more patient or more willing to sing themselves they would have had a blast. So I have been going since. Each time someone showed up and then left. I will be the first one to say I hate country music, but there is more in the three song books than that. Not to mention the DJ has expressed a with that we just tell him what we want. So far no one has. Which has been disappointing to me. I mean, how often does someone cater to us? And no offence to all of you pro-Kevin people, but this DJ has actually made an effort to be nice. Kevin doesn't even know us non-Tori/Jen type girls exist, unless we either flirt with or yell at him. That being said, I will still show up, because I think seeing the rest of you is worth it. And if I'm willing to not be lazy, some of you should too.
[/rant]
So show up already.

Wow, Abby. I'm glad you got that off your chest. I know how you feel, but in all fairness, Kevin (I didn't even know his name) was always very nice to me, & I'm definitively no Tori/Jen. He was especially nice the night I arrived early to set up a certain Bday party.
Anyway, I understand the crowd being loyal to their favorite DJ (I've been guilty of such loyalty as well). But Abby's right. If we want to have a night the way we want it & with whom we want it, we should SHOW UP. The presence of a group of freaks can have amazing results. We attend, participate, drink, & tip well, & then exercise the leverage we have then gained. If it's not Kevin, we can mention (while tipping is often a good time) how much we miss him & ask when we might be able to enjoy his talents again.
It's not like they ran him out of town. A little patience & diplomacy goes along way.
Success through manipulation!

Hey all. Kevin e-mailed me and wanted me to pass this on. BTW, good to see you guys again at the Panda. Doubt it will last, but Kevin may have some new places for his gig in January.
"I just want to say thanks for everyone's support while I was at the Giant
Panda and even to the present time as I hear that I am missed there. Just
to clarify: I was not treated well by "Bob", the "Entertainment Director".
After having spent over 6 months at the Panda and agreeing to last-minute
cancellations by Lisa in the summer when business was not busy, I was first
'bumped' by the bluegrass band with no notice to a later time in the night.
I was then outright lied to by Bob when he told me that he was no longer
going to have karoake... the very next week Country was there on Tuesday
nights doing karaoke. I told Lisa outright: I was not going to continue to
do business with someone who lies to me and has such business practices as
Bob does.
I will be working 3 or 4 new nights a week come January. I do not have
finalized days and times yet, but I have very strong verbal agreements with
three places: Kingston Alley, the Backroad Pub and Grill (in Oak Ridge), and
Osky's (formally Between the Buns) in Farragut. I will be in touch with all
three of them the week between Christmas and New Years to finalize
days/times. I will then let you know. Again: thanks for the support!
Happy Holidays to all!" - Kevin
Meanwhile ack at the Panda...

I tried Jiggers the first Saturday I was back in town. There were four of us until almost 1 AM, then four more showed up. It was OK (Dustin was in rare voice and Tori told off a cowboy who called her "Cori.") A drunk redneck in the men's room asked me if I was planning on "blowing the place up" and asked me to give him warning if I was so that he could leave. I told him that I hadn't decided yet, seeing as how no one had bought me any drinks…
I'd really enjoy a return to Kevin's Karaoke at Panda. Monday night isn't the best night… I spend most Mondays scheduling work for the rest of the week, so most of the work gets pinned for Tuesday, leaving Monday night better suited for sleep than partying. I'll be "playing it by ear" so you might just see me there next Monday. The chances are better of that now that Jiggers isn't an option (thank God.)
Floating past cloud nine…
Scorptrio / Gregori
P.S. After reading Kevin's new info, I can only say, "Keep us posted here about day/location and I'll be around."

Kevin, I'm sorry to hear about your unfortunate dealings with this Bob person. I'm glad to hear that you are continuing on, though. Keep us posted on when & where you'll be, man. I don't get alot of opportunities to venture out on weeknights anymore, but if I get the opportunity, I'd love to come visit you again.
Good luck!
