First of all, let's have a hand for this title. I mean, what the fuck?
Parallels between the slayings of Abraham Lincoln and John Kennedy:
- Both men fought ardently for civil rights.
- Lincoln was elected in 1860, Kennedy in 1960, exactly a century later.
- Both men were slain on a Friday in the presence of their wives.
- Both men were shot in the head.
- Both Vice Presidents who succeeded them were named Johnson, Andrew Johnson for Lincoln, Lyndon Johnson for Kennedy.
- Both Johnsons were Southern Democrats and both had been U.S. Senators.
- Andrew Johnson was born in 1808, Lyndon in 1908, exactly a century later.
- John Wilkes Booth, Lincoln's assassin, was born in 1839. Lee Harvey Oswald, Kennedy's assassin was born in 1939, exactly a century later.
- Booth and Oswald were both Southerners who favored unpopular ideas.
- A Lincoln secretary named Kennedy advised him not to go to theatre the night he was slain. A Kennedy secretary named Lincoln warned him against going to Dallas.
- Booth shot Lincoln in a theatre and fled to a warehouse. Oswald shot Kennedy from a warehouse and fled to a theatre.
- The names Kennedy and Lincoln both contain se7en letters. The names Andrew Johnson and Lyndon Johnson each contain th1rt3en letters. The names John Wilkes Booth and Lee Harvey Oswald each contain fifteen letters
- Both assassins were shot and killed before they could be brought to trial.
- Both Kennedy and Lincoln voiced premonitions of death shortly before their assassinations.
- Both men lost children while in the White House.
I'll get to the my opinion about all of this later....after it's sunken in for those of you who have never read this.

Do you really think that's merely overanalyzation?

Yep. Heard that one a long, long time ago, most likely high school as well.
Still interesting however.

its errie, and its interesting...
but i want to meet the guy who actually sat there and complied this list. probably so anal of a human being he cant fit a coffee stirrer up his ass.
history repeats itself. simple as that
in life theres only so many possibilites
its not infinite
we all are made of the same basic DNA. we all have the same needs.
so yea its neat but just seems to me like some strands in this spiral of existance just touched each other.

You might want to check out a site on urban legends, snopes.com. They have an through examination of the so-called similarites. Go to the search bar and type lincoln and they'll come back with this myth.

That's about how I figure it. You can only roll a die so many times before it lands on the same side.

Di don't have 15 multi-faced sides.
How near it is to impossible that this all means nothing.

I like it because it's pretty but yes I do love Tool's music.

considering
TOOL didnt make that art,
Alex Grey did that art...
i like it because im a huge Grey fan.
and all the work art except for the circut on the back of the slip case on Lateralus was done by Grey. Adam Jones did the logic-gated (no pun intended logic) circut board on the back (for a kick get an electronics guide and and look at the gating. theres a few hidden jokes in it).. Thats the only art any member of tool touched on that album and Jones took credit for
half of it. he didnt even do the fucking concepts... nor did maynard who took credit for it with jones. they later said they just told him make a series like an anatomy book. thats all the work they did at all on that end. the eye-grids, the eye-spirals (like the circle in logic's avatar), the single eye (the center of the avatar) are also all Grey's work....
Even members of Tool bitched about the way credit was distributed over that... but considering how much $$ they and Grey made off of the whole thing... i doubt anyone was pissed... just complained.
i point all this out because i really dig tool and i really dig Grey but that art had as much to do with Tool as it did an asscrack in Indies. Tool just bought it. Does the fact Grey did it all listening to demos of Lateralus make it Tool's? naa. not at all. But those images (all of them) are in the clusters for Alex Greys next book and i wonder if it will still be called Tools work...

Glad I'm not the only one who knows that shit lol.I am a huge fan of both Grey and TooL.I actually have an interview lying around here somewhere with Adam where he clears up just what you explained.Something about the record label fucking up the credits. There were changes made to Lateralus after the band had their final look at it before production began. The first 5000 copies (I think I'm right on the number) had the song Lateralus spelled Lateralis. lol Just a small sample of my useless TooL facts collection.

Interesting, except Oswald didn't shot Kennedy.... I would tell you who did but then I would have to kill you

did anyone else notice in one of the pics inside, that the word "god" is spelled out in the dude's brain? i picked mine up the first week it was out, but i don't know if it was one of the 1st 5000. also, had grey done any work since lateralus? maybe i have seen some and just didn't know it. i have a link to his website somewhere, but haven't looked in a while.

maybe somebody was writing a paper for a class and stumbled upon the similarities. or maybe they were assigned to find similarites between 2 pres. in some way, i don't know. you know how crazy some college assignments can seem. i had a history class where the professor linked the wizard of oz to the historical events of the time the book was wriiten. i thought it was udderly fascinating. then he went on to prove that the wiz of oz and field of dreams are basically the same movie. quite interesting, i thought. he was an interesting man. i could go on about it forever, but would have to actually dig out my notes to ensure i covered it all correctly.
anyways, enough said. those are just my random thoughts of the day.
where the hell did you all go to school?
