i currently have an individual that has been sending me harrassing and threatening IM's. This started on Mon. using a yahoo ID set up to look like my ex-boyfriend. However, i don't think it is him as his computer is still sitting at my house and he does not have an ISP yet at his new place.
Today, i got harassing and threatening messages from someone using a yahoo ID using my real first and last name as the name on it. As i do not know for sure who this person is, what lists and/or forums they are on, and exactly how well they know me, i felt i should let everyone know. So, if you get a wierd message from "me" but under a screen name you aren't used to seeing, it isn't the real me, and please let me know. Sorry for any duplication of this message for anyone that is on multiple boards/lists that i am on.
All appropriate reports to yahoo and such have been filed.

Yeah, Janell.....that was my first thought as well.

Just a suggestion but you might want to make sure no one has "stolen" your Identity either via info from internet or via your trash etc. You might want to call the FBI.

Thanks for the suggestion, but at this point it isn't looking necessary. i've just come through a nasty break-up, and although i'm pretty sure it isn't the ex-boyfriend actually doing it, i'm more sure it's connected to him as the timing is right and alot of the harrassing messages related to that. One of his friends or something. ISP traces, police reports and FBI are the next step though.
Things seem to have died down now that i did TOS reports, put the word out on every forum and list i'm on, and my husband put the word out in the proper direction for whoever it is to get the message that if anything more occurs the FBI and whatnot will be contacted. So, hopefully all that solved it, and if not temporary cease fire that all that caused gave us even more indication that we are on the right track on where it is coming from.

Either spoke to soon, or said individual is on here and i got him riled up again. The messages have started back up. Police are being notified.
