Highwayman

Tell me more about this highwayman
Hanging by your door
Though the room is dimmed with shadows
I have seen his face before
His blood-stained eyes are searching me
Red-rimmed with silence and sanctity
I wonder if your highwayman laughs
As the fool's parade goes by
Or if it's all but a wall of sorrow
And chances left to die
I cross his T's and dot his eyes
I kiss his lonely face
He looks at me with longing and
I leave his room woth grace
He calls to me "I love you"
So I turn to see his smile
"I'll see you again, my innocent friend
in just a little while.'
I dream about he highwayman
His dark and secret place
He takes me to the riverside
And leaves me there with grace.
We've all got one and we all dream of them from time to time
Hanging by your door
Though the room is dimmed with shadows
I have seen his face before
His blood-stained eyes are searching me
Red-rimmed with silence and sanctity
I wonder if your highwayman laughs
As the fool's parade goes by
Or if it's all but a wall of sorrow
And chances left to die
I cross his T's and dot his eyes
I kiss his lonely face
He looks at me with longing and
I leave his room woth grace
He calls to me "I love you"
So I turn to see his smile
"I'll see you again, my innocent friend
in just a little while.'

And leaves me there with grace.
