Regardless, I'll try to swing by Sanctus after the KFAR benefit, which should wrap up not long after midnight, and say 'Hi!' Maybe I'll even help you load up your gear again. Congrats, amigo! You too, Joan (since you're shouldering most of the work (OUCH!))!
Thanks Eric....
Please call me sometime.....
Thanks also to EVERYONE.
I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
I'm home for a few seconds before heading back to the hospital.
Here's an update....
As in about FIVE WEEKS EARLY!!! Geez, I was just about to get around to posting his 4-D Ultrasound Pix, and the little bugger goes and pulls a Swifty!!!
He was born at 12:45 AM EST 3/10/04.
5lbs, 1 oz.
Just over 18" long.
HE'S GOT REDDISH-Blond HAIR!!!!!!!!
Who knows what color it will be in 6-9 months, but for now, it's a copper, headed for blond. Only DISTANT relatives on her side have red hair.....
?????
Despite being SOOOOO early, he's had ZERO Respiratory problems.
He's been periodically monitored and warmed due to a lack of bodyfat to regulate his body-temp, but he's spent Most of his time in the room with Us.
Also because he's so early, he's slow to eat. He gives a few sucks and falls asleep. No IV's necessary, just more Formula than breast so far, which is just one more aspect of our birth-plan that was shot to heck.
Honestly, the only thing that went to plan was having a boom-box in the room playing soothing music.
Joan had some cancerous cells removed from her cervix about 6-7 years ago, which left some scar-tissue. She went from 3-6 cm dilation in no time, w/o ANY problems or pains. (BTW, this was all w/ no epidural. She wanted to do it mostly "old-school"). At 6cm, she got hung for about 6 hrs. Still, no pain, no problems, but they decided to increase Pitocin to induce greater contractions since he was a Preemie and needed to finish up.
One Very small dose of a relaxant-pain-killer in her IV, and the cervix did it's thing. She was calmed for about a 30 minute power-nap, came around back to normal, and he was on his way.... AND FAST!!!
The cervix dilated quickly and the entire pushing only lasted 15 minutes. She actually had to work to NOT push too much until the doctor made it to the room and was ready!
Next thing you know, he was there.
I'm headed back to the Hospital in a few minutes.
Tomorrow I'm hopefully going to get my Daughter from her Mom, and then Joan and Nicholas will be released Friday morning if all goes well.
Yesterday was definitely a surprise, and NOTHING was as planned, but all is Good.
BTW, on the "Music Front", I played various Ambient and Classical all afternoon and night. I knew things were getting close when the time came, just no idea HOW Close.
I put on Prince's Classical "Kama Sutra" album, and he was born w/in 20 minutes....
Thanks again everyone...
I'll check back in in the next couple of days.....
