nine inch nails: Bleed Through...

Post by Zeo »

From: Rolling Stone Magazine

Nine Inch Nails are at work on their fourth album, Bleed Through, in Los Angeles. Trent Reznor and Co. hope to finish it by summer and release it later this year.
"It's more song-oriented [than 1999's The Fragile]," says NIN mastermind Reznor. "It's much more lean. It's going to be twelve good punches in the face -- no fillers, no instrumentals, just straight to the point."

Rick Rubin (Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Beastie Boys, Johnny Cash) is producing the record. "It's kind of a new vibe this time around," says Reznor. "Different people, different approach.

While Bleed may be more streamlined than its predecessors, namely the expansive concept records 1994's The Downward Spiral and The Fragile, it won't exactly be light fare. "It's a complicated concept record," Reznor says, "but reduced to just simple songs. It's not epic in its scope. It's minimal and a bit brutal."

NIN plan to hit the road in the next few months to preview the new material. "It's been forever since we played," Reznor says. "I'm reenergized right now, my life's in order, and I'm ready to combat the shitty music that's out right now."

Why Trent chose Rick Ruban to produce is beyond me, but sounds like it will kick ass no less.

Christmas release

Post by sapphirerose »

In the new issue of Revolver magazine, the news section sends a quick message about the upcoming album:

"Trent Reznor is in L.A. with producer Rick Rubin, trying to finish the
fourth NIN record, Bleed Through, which should be in stores by Christmas."

Its about time. I'm puzzled as well over the choice to bring Rubin onboard. To qoute Rob Zombie: "Rick hates all the technology, he has that AC/DC fetish". I would love to be a fly on the wall in that studio.

Looking forward to it. I will definitely be picking this one up the day it is released. It would be nice if Knoxville gets added to the list of tour dates(crosses fingers).
Live for today, it may be your last.

Trent has talked about this in a few articles now
http://www.theninhotline.net/ and its sister sites document all this.
tne drummer has done an interview saying Rubin only tracked guitar and that theres a fleet of producers (including Lohner) that have worked on it, but id say both the rolling stone (which is known for inaccuracy)and the drummer clips are off.
my guess is trent will just pick the best takes and those people get credit (like he did with the fragile)
and for the record, Rock Rubin is scum.
To quote Danzig "Rubin hates toms. the first three danzig albums would have been so much better if he would have let Chuck use the rest of his kit."

So its says release date may 27th 2004 on the web site. I called Disc Exchange...they have no record of its release date. Anyone know if it is out...or when it will be out?
Yes, I have wished you were dead. You are just another face in the crowd, someone who brings me suffering, someone I truely hate.

I can't wait for this album.I expect that it is going to fucking great, as I have never been dissappointed with any NIN album.

It seems as though we may be waiting on Bleedthrough a little longer.
But, November 23, 2004 will bring The Downward Spiral in two new formats with additional material.

Wow, so I have a question. I dont follow NIN's work too much but from what Ive seen I thought they had tons of releases and I know theyve been around forever. How can this be only their 4th album?

Most of NIN's releases are live/remix albums, DVDs, and albums of songs that didn't make the cut. So, technically, there are only four complete studio albums: Pretty Hate Machine, Downward Spiral, the Fragile, and now With Teeth.

you forgot broken. the sound of broken, the fact it was an EP, the hidden cover and hidden song TVT didnt want released on PHM...broken was a big cock to everyone remotely involved with trent.
thats why i love that CD. its an EP, but with songs that damn good it counts for an album in my book.

From The pit of all pits, Vestal NY-Genoa-
I wish i had been around for the early days of NIN, but nonetheless i love thier music and i have pretty hate machine and i recently bought the new remastered "the downward spiral" 2 disc set which has a second CD with early versions of "march of the pigs" and a few demo's and other earlier versions of songs originally on the album. i have never heard broken though, its kind of hard to find a lot of NIN old EP's around here, if i wanted them id probably have to special order them. I would kill to see them live

Vote: Which is the best NIN album?
Why's it come as a surprise to think that i was so naive, maybe didnt mean that much, but it meant everything to me

That depends on what your favorite incarnation of Trent is... Self loathing trent, pissed at the world trent, I made my millions and can't be angry at the world...just the people who were my friends and took me for a ride trent.

Really it's hard for me to pick a best album from NIN as each one is very different sound exploration. I have my Favorites but I don't know that I could rate them as the best to worst.
Each CD has it's own merits to me that make it difficult to pick a favorite. All depends on my mood at any given moment as to which CD I like best.

I will say this the live DVD "All that could have been", is the greatest concert films I have ever seen. I am sooooooo looking forward to hopefully getting to see him on this tour.

so far, all the european shows sold out in less than 14 minutes. Expecting the US shows to do much the same.
