Ncc reviews:
Marax-Rising Sun on the morning after-3"CDR (NCC Records)
Ah harsh mind numbing noise with a driving force of harsh harsh industrial.
This is some tense sounds going on here. The pain factor of these sound sources.
I don't know who to explain it correctly but the crunchness of this release is
just making me so god damn pleased.
This is just the soundtrack i need in my current pissed off state.
I now need to go find more of this Mr Marax recordings as see if they hold up
to this stellar 15 minutes of insanity.
Marax have here mastered the deconstruction of Sounds and have brought me to my knees.
The artwork on this 3" is 1st rate too. Ncc has something special going on here.

Nowhere-The Shit we are- 3" CDR (NCC Records)
To start off with I played with this Gentleman by the name of Greg on New Years Eve
in Tampa Fl. So I have an idea what I'm in store for here.
Live Nowhere was Textural Guitar De tuning and Layering of avant garde sounds
in an Industrial setting.
The CD starts off with a very minimalist feel to it all very cold and
very Drifting Dark Ambient almost but its slowing building.
This 1st track is a teaser I think as its building up still ever slowly
to what i heard at that show. 4 minutes in and the harsher almost buzz saw like sounds
are coming in from the background.
Ok Track 2 is what is all about Droning assault of feedback and Harsh noise elements
with an eriee female vocal going on at the end of the track very impressive.
THe last track is a 1:30 fist fuck of power electronics what a way to end the CD.
Another fine piece of artwork here as well.
Ncc has something good going on with these 3" titles I can tell ya.

Maleux-Carrion Rust-3" CDR (NCC Records)
Well we have more crushing Noise , Static , Odd Feedback loops and almost demonic
like vocal coming in and out from time to time.
Out of the 3 releases i got this title expands a bit more on the textures
and feels of the Noise and samples used to create what the artist wants us to feel.
There a much more isolationist vibe about Maleux.
You know this person isn't here to please you in anyway this is a exorcise
in releasing the dark and painful thoughts from within.
At times Maleux is almost hypnotic in they way the tracks are created.
Again very impressive material from a project I've never heard before now.

MARAX - Rising Sun On The Morning After
This is a 3 song 3" CDR, and conveys a more volatile side of Marax. "Inches From Your Sleeping Face" uses gritty shifting high tones and fluttering statics to produce a biting tension for nearly 3 and a half minutes before the direction shifts into mid range noise swashes. "Oral Sex With a .357" comes in at 10 and a half minutes and is only slightly less subtle than its title. Built around a looping throb, heavy low distortions and shrill high end ping pong off of each other at varying pulse rates. Stop and starts eventually find their way in giving it a spastic random flow, but the sounds stay more or less consistent until the last couple minutes where it all becomes more feverish. "Blood Drenched And Smiling At The Sun" closes this out with some sharp edged harsh mid and high textures and what sounds like distant frantic screams or sampling looped deep in the background. A more piercing and abrasive side of Marax than those seen on the "For The Love of Death" series, but nice to see a project not afraid of some clear diversity in its catalog. - Scott

MALEUX - Carrion Rust
Three songs, three 3" for this CDR, and a project previously unknown to me. "Voices" combines a cyclic buzzing low end with flapping higher frequencies, and the end result is more curious than that would suggest. I think because it doesn't seem to have the tonal foundation you come to expect. The sounds are their own and don't rest in a soup of indistinct atmosphere. This clarity and general formula of a throbbing, rhythmic low end with the frosting being mids and highs remains present on the other two tracks as well. "Man In A Cage" weaves some Charles Manson samples, and a nice acoustic melody loop into the din and grows into the noisiest track of the three. I really like a lot of the sounds used though out this, crisp yet gritty, I'm guessing it's all digital, but that old analog flutter and feel is a big part of it, with the end result being in the Death Industrial vein with some Power Electronics elements sneaking in. Not terribly unlike a less dense version of some of the newer Control releases. It doesn't sound like Control, but does seem to focus on a similar mix of structure and noise, with the production being of high importance. Really enjoyable. - Scott
