Ya know, this film was ok.....but it was GREAT for the simple reason of the Batman teaser at the front.

I thought this movie was great, and it is depressing to me that others do not see it for what it is. It is a movie about human behavior, about fear, about consequences to the best intentions, about the steps someone would take for love and happiness. I thought it was really moving, incredibly interesting, and the acting was phenominal. I have loved every Shyamalan film I've seen (the 4 main ones, none before, yet) and I love this one. Each are unique. None are run of the mill action blow-em-up movies. They make you feel, and think. I get goose bumps when I watch his films, and to me, that's saying a lot. I've probably seen Signs 15 times and still get goose bumps. They're just fantastic films.

And The Village is no different, to me. It is great. *nods* Yes it was slow paced, yes there was not much action, and yes it was different then anything I've ever seen, but he wanted to do a Period piece, He wanted it to feel like it was in the 1800's with ideals, talk and dress from that time. They didn't talk like us, they didn't act like us, and I think townspeople in the movie were wonderful. They all wanted the best for everyone else (outside of that one guy, who, to give him credit, was mentally retarded).. If I was a billionaire and could pull something like that off, I'd think very seriously about it.

The only part I didn't especially like was when Shyamalan himself made a tiny cameo. I didn't see the purpose of that. Brought me out of the movie's reality for a few minutes, and that sucked. but I have no other complains at all.

I went to that movie expecting nothing other then an original film, I didn't expect a sixth sense, I didn't expect a signs, I just expected originality, wonderful directing, and awesome acting (knowing who was in it, all fantastic actors) ... I got all those things and so much more, and I would highly recommend anyone to go see this, as long as they go in with the same expectations as I did.

It is a good movie. It is not a masterpiece. And it is not very deep; most ideas are on the fist layer. But it is interesting and beautiful. I was afraid that it will be an ordinary, stupid, “thrilling” Hollywood blockbuster, but I was wrong. You need to see it.
And I just loved forests around the village, they are a little depressive, but beautiful.

I really dug the hell outa this movie, hadnt seen one this good in along time. (went to the dollar movies_ cheapo)

Caught this at Movies 7 as well. I liked it. I wasn't expecting it.

of all so far my favorite is unbreakable -
the story of the makings of a super hero - its like seeing batman before he was batman - its the glimpse of what is fantasy and on the edge of possibility, i adore this movie

the village was no exception, a bit of a surprise , i loved it
the scenes in the woods reminded me of a time i got lost in the woods and it was rather haunting to me for that reason

What a boring little piece of slow moving, badly edited and highly predictable piece of SHIT! This yawnfest made me pissed that I had bought it before seeing it, since I liked Signs and Unbreakable. I wasn't a big fan of the other predictable(Willis is a DEAD guy?!GASP!) movie, The Sixth Sense. Please....just as predictable as the fact that this so called 1800's town in The Village was actually in a remote location in modern times. And, I'm sorry but the acting sucked, and the retarded guy was annoying and obvious as being the "monster".....(sigh) What a great film to blow my chunks to.....UGH! If you liked it, more power to ya. Just remember that this movie was neither surprising or spooky. End of story.

Unbreakable. Wow. Bears repeated viewings. Yes, I think I am with Jay on this one. One of my favorite movies, and easily the best superhero movie ever. But 6th Sense was a one time viewer (I'd have no interest in seeing it again) and Signs, well, sucked.

I have not seen Villiage and don't intend to. It just doesn't speak to me.
