Okay, this is hopefully going to be helpful in letting us get to know each other better, especially since we have so many new members. Also, it may be helpful for the "Person above you" thread.
Simply, tell us about your avatar. What is it? Where did it come from? Why did you select it?
For myself, I use a John William Waterhouse painting entitled "Boreas," the name of the god of the north wind, son of Eos (the dawn). Waterhouse has chosen a to show the effect of Boreas' breezes on a female figure, rather than display the god himself.
I've always loved Waterhouse's work since I first saw the mermaid he painted combing her long hair. The mermaid looked exactly like a dear friend of mine (from the waist up, anyway). All his female figures have a very distinct look & I love his style & subject matter. I've used other images of his for past avatars, & will undoubtedly select another one when I tire of this one.
How about you?

Tor Johnson famed 1930's Monster/Super Henchman (sometimes with a heart) probably known today for being in the Ed Wood Movies.
After deciding not to make my oun I was just sitting running images through my head, when I recalled the shorts Heavy Metal use to publish about the Tor character, I quickly started looking for images, I found this one on a sight that also had a picture of his grave site.
I guess it represents the way I feel about myself,
Its also a cool picture.

It's a rose I got from a random website.
I have a thing for roses, and it matched my screen name except it needs thorns

My avitar is the hatchetman. I chose it because it fits with my mood most of the time. I switch avatars about once a month so Make sure to read the name. I figure if I change things every so often it gives insight to my currant mood, like a big elaborite emoticon.

Ok, well I am a big fan of werewolves and found this picture online somewhere, and it also kinda depicts the whole "vicious blood" sorta thing (which is kinda how I am, but don't worry, don't fuck me over and it's all good). My friend put my name on it (KIT for all you who don't know) and bada boom bada bang, there I go.

Mine would simply be a picture of myself. It was taken with a digital camera, not sure by who. Either me or my friend Jill. Probably Jill, as that angle looks kinda hard for me to have taken it...

the gloriousness of my avatar is a picture of my very soul.
Yeah, that's it. It's not that I don't have one at all.

Mine is just a picture I found on some site....not even sure where. Anyway, I liked it so I decided to use it. It's what I WISH I looked like....at least in my dream world. Heh.
Most of you might remember when I used to have my Hello Kitty avatar. That was/is one of my obsessions. Don't be too surprised if you get subjected to a wrestling avatar someday too.

Your avatar is done by an artist out of LA called Olivia. I have seen that peice in two different books she has out. She does A LOT of Betty Page stuff, works with an airbrush. Her work is really whimsical and pinup like. Little known fact is a lot of the pictures she has done of Bettie Page were actually Dita Von Teese. Olivia admitted to Dita when she painted betiie, she was actually painting Dita, Dita thought that sucked, and grew her bangs out to get her own distinct look.
Hi, My name is Heather, and I am an art nerd.

My avatar is me. I had a long goatee before this pic...then one night, I shaved it cause I wanted to copy an Actors make-up job from House of a Thousand Corpses. The only make-up colors I had were yellow and black....but,I turned it black and white to add to the creep effect.
My signature line is Magnus from Chrono Trigger. A video game that was one of the last RPG's for the SNES. Magnus is a vampire with an evil scheme that gets foiled, so he joins the good guys for awhile to help rid the whole of a even larger evil.
****Awaits hardcore Chrono Trigger fans to disapprove*****

My avatar reminds me of a romantic, dark, hero. Someone I would like to be.

Mine is me. A larger version can be found
here.
I like to play in photoshop. I took the original and played around with the color balance and lighting until I got what you see, then made everything really grainy, and then popped the irises and pupils from the original (completely un-retouched) on top of the new pic. Tada.

Mine is a screencap from the PV for "Last Letter" by Pierrot. It's one of my favorite songs by them, and I thought that Kohta looked very beautiful here [as he always does]. so I made it smaller, did a couple of things in Photoshop, and thus my avatar emerged. I use it for everything <3.
