Looks like they're totally screwing this one up. They've only thrown out the entire storyline of the game and basically made it into the Resident Evil storyline on "remote planet." The creatures aren't from Hell, but instead they are "people mutated by some nasty super-virus."

Those assholes. I don't know what else to say about this. Assholes.

I don't know, but I still can't get over the facts. No chainsaw and no bfg, what the hell are they thinking?

I KNOW! The BFG is the best part of the game. Shit you spend the whole game making sure you get that bastard! I loved Doom. It was my very first 1st person shotter game. I rocked Mars' world too. Ghetto style.

"Minor changes" my ass.

The monsters have nothing to do with hell, the plot is not taking place on Mars and "space marines" are not well "space marines" as their outfits are more like SWAT team members.

Why even call it DOOM if it has nothing to do with the plot of the game what-so ever?
How retarded. It really pisses me off how Hollywood thinks they can take a video game concept, completely change everything about the story line so it has nothing to do with the game, and then slap the title of the game on it.
Anybody remember Street Fighter the movie?
Oh god, the terror.

Pffft, this Dave Callahan guy who is writing the screen play has never done one before in his life.
Suck.

Street Fighter was absolutly horriable. i think that is one of the films that made me want to get into film making. That way I could stop at least one person from doing something like that again.

And now... the trailer. I might actually make it out to see it. I see somebody using the plasma gun which is kinda cool. Oh and I read that the BFG will be present.

The only thing this remotely has going for it thus far is the presumed R rating. I'm sure it will be chopped for PG-13 before the release date. Regardless, I'm not going to go see this for the same reason I didn't go see "Alien VS Predator" and the same reason I won't go see "Stealth". It doesn't appear to even nudge the envelope and brings nothing but regurgitated crap to the table.
I would just as soon watch someone play Doom 3 on Xbox for about 1.5 hours.

Oh, I do.

Well I'll be damned. The MPAA gave it an R rating, and Universal let them, overshooting the heads of it's target audience: teenage boys. The new trailer plays out like a first person shooter.

Anyone see House of the Dead? Remember the spliced-in clips from the game during action sequences?

ugg.

Most video games should just be left as video games.

Great, thanks for bringing that up. Now I'm going to have flashbacks about how terrible that movie was. *convulses on the floor*

How about they should all be left as video games and vice versa. I would like to see some original screenplays myself instead of all this fucking garbage.

I actually read the article about the movie in this month's PC Gamer. I think I may actually make it out to see this one. I found out that the Rock is not playing the main "Doom guy" character. It's actually Karl Urban playing the lead character. It is indeed taking place on Mars, and they are indeed demons that they are fighting. The pictures I saw in the magazine looked really gruesome and detailed. I don't know how the plot and acting will be, probably bad, but I kinda want to see the movie versions of imps, pinky demons, and the baron. The BFG will be present. I'm not sure about chainsaw(s). And they are 100% on top of an R rating, probably uncut version for DVD release. It may be a train wreck, but it looks like the effort is a bit better than what I had originally heard about it. I'll probably see it when it comes out next month.

Yes the chainsaw was present in the trailer but might go the way of the tire in the Twister trailer, who knows. I'm just eagerly awaiting A. McGhee's Oz, both the game and the movie

Luckily, I have never played Doom 3 before. Otherwise, this movie might suck for me.

As it is, I'm waiting for DVD to watch it, so I might have the game before then, and claw my eyes out after the movie anyway.

Ah well, at least it means more money for John buy even bigger workstations with which to code more cool games on.

Nah, i saw the trailer. This is going to suck. I'm glad to see the chainsaw, though.
