Hair dyes

If you're going for natural but bright colors, I suggest Feria. It's really shiny and lasts quite a while.
If you want something more unnatural, Manic Panic is almost always good. But the bad thing about unnatural dyes is their tendancy to fade - especially reds and pinks. I have yet to find a dye that can keep my hair bright pink for more than a week.

If she were a street gang, I'd go to war with her with bottles and chains.
Well, if you're going to go pink, I suggest you use Quick Blue bleach and vol 40 creme developer. As for the dye, no matter what pink you get, it's going to fade really fast. Hair has a harder time keeping in pink and red pigment than any other color. You could just slap some Manic Panic on there and refresh the color everyday by adding a tablespoon of dye in with your daily conditioner.

becareful with slapping it in with your conditioner though. make sure to wear gloves or you'll have beautiful hot pick hands to go with the hair.
I used a Manic Panic that was called Hot Pink and said it was blacklight reactive on the label and it stayed hot pink for about 6 weeks. I had bleached my hair out first. then again my hair has an insane capacity to hold onto hair color cause I've bleached and dyed it so much.

Like fire engine? Or burgundy? Either way with hair as dark as yours, you will want to bleach it first. Manic panic does fade fast, but it has the nice bright reds

In my experience Punky has always given me better and longer lasting results than Manic Panic. And you can't beat the Punky bleach kit. Thanks for the tip on adding the dye into your conditioner that sounds like a great idea. I wish I'd thought of it.

May I suggest...
Colour Rays by L'Oreal. It has a powerful lifter and color all at once, and I've seen it work lifting dark brown hair to bright red, fushia, or orange. Don't know how their blond works. I have short hair, so I usually just use it all over my head.
Another REALLY good color is Schwarzkopf Live, which has Purple to Blue to the widest variety of pretty reds and blacks. You can get those through ebay or sometimes Pharmacy Online Austrailia has it. They do take US money!!!

Hair Color
I've found that Garnier 100% Color works really well. I use the blue black. I color my mother's hair with the Red Mahogany. I've got several compliments on my color and my mom, too! I've used color rays but I wasn't that pleased. I had to dye over all the pink blotches, haha.
My hair is, of course, very hard to lift and color. But it did do better then the others so it's probably one of the best at Walmart.
:-p
I usually go to Sally's Beauty Supply and get the color and developer. Wella is the BEST color ever!

Sally beauty supply carries a line of dyes made specifially for dark hair. if you use it & whil it processes, have the plastic cap on your head to hold in the heat, you get amazing color & it lasts. I have used 3 different "reds" in that line, a burgundy, a fuschia and a RED. My favorite is the red & the colors are true & vibrant. I don't remember the brand but it is in a black & red box & does say specially formulated for dark hair. Good luck!!!

ask heather what she used to dye my hair blue. (i.e., unnatural as hell color)
it worked really well. of course, as she used some kind of bleaching agent to do it, if you've already killed your hair it'll probably fall out. but since mine was really healthy (as in i hadn't done anything odd to it since i'd shaved my head) it turned out cool for me. it's just too bad i had to dye it back to get a job that paid worth a crap...

I just dyed mine "after midnight blue" with manic panic, and it's almost black. I look kind of emo, actually.
After experimenting with various hairdyes over the course of a year, i have found punky proffessional is the longest lasting color i have used. Unfortunately, the colors are slightly limited, but there's still a pretty good selection. Manic Panic has a fantastic selection of colors, but fades far too quickly.
And that concludes my report.
