The Difference

Post by Celestial Dung »

I wish I hadn't told her about love and hate.

She was at the Marble Slab licking a waffle cone vanilla chocolate swirl as if contemplating a philsophical issue. Slow absent minded licks letting the cream drip on her table. She was wearing the absolute same dress as I was, a black halter with white lace. I was drawn to her instantly and yeah I guess it was the dress. She had black hair cut in the Uma Thurman/Pulp Fiction style. Black eye shadow with cherry red lipstick. Kick ass stomping boots. On her dress she had a Clara Bow button.

I was in love and all the world was right. Take it this way, I'm not good with talking love strucks but I instictively went to her commentied on her button and we fell into talking later that night fell into love.

It was a lover and sister relationship, one that only happens on those remote few occasions when perfection is negotiable. We spent hours in McKays giggling like mad schoolgirls in the Christian section. We both shared a Southern Baptist upbringing. Neither one of us was good at being bitter so would laugh over absurdities. She introduced me to Dunsay, I introduced her to Robert Howard. Together we could make no sense of Lovecraft.

But I wish I hadn't told her about love and hate.

It was a blood moon and we thought it romantic. Unionship is only romantacized because ideally it is poetry. One curve meets another curve a nerve crasses another and slowly it takes shape into a sunset. No really that's how it is.

I woke and she wasn't next to me. Four months and we had shared beds never lonely. On the door was tacked a note wriitten on the Hello Kitt Stationary with the purple glitter pen I had given her.

"I'm sorry, you remind me too much of myself."

I really wished I hadn't told her about love and hate.

CD, I'm so glad you posted that. I think it's absolutely sad and beautiful.
