There is a security hole in chat which allows contents of private messages to be read, and could potentially allow a non-member to read chat.

DO NOT regard anything you say in chat as being private.

I'm looking into solutions to this problem - but it may be some time before I get it fixed.

Yeah...someone told me months ago that they were able to read what people PM'ed each other in chat...*shrug*

But, there is a security hole in dealing with humans period. Don't expect anything that comes out of your mouth to not get spread like stink at a phish concert.

The bug isn't something new, it's just that particular implication that wasn't thought through.

I've known about the core problem for a while now, but didn't see the point in telling anyone but vader. After all, he's the one with his hands in the guts of the thing.

If I had the time, I think I could fix it. But most of my CGI and PHP development has been severely limited of late.

OK, so how about, until the problem is fixed, you just tell everyone how to read other people's PMs? That way no one will have an unfair advantage.
