The news stations wouldn't shut up long enough to hear the beautiful singing & prayers. They used them as background music instead. Bush, Clinton, & Ford have all released statements already.

I did hear that he will have a total of 9 funerals before everything is said & done. They also have to destroy his ring & papal seal. These rituals fascinate me.

media is saying " we shall use this for an excuse to push right wing conservative america and to distract the public from bush!"

i mean, they wont shut up.

No offese 2 the guy, but a dead Pope doez make the most appropri8 symbol 4 the dying religious power, IMO ...

Also, mayb the next Pope could ac2ally convince priestz that molesting lil' boyz iz NOT the holiest thing 2 do ...

You know that Nostradamus predicted that the world would end after this next Pope dies.

True. But if I recall correctly, Nostradamus predicted that it would end some time afterwards... as in, strongly leaning towards some time after the year 3,000.

Unless you mean WW III, which - according to the high lord Nostril - won't completely eliminate the human race.

I'll be the first to say that I could be wrong - I'm not terribly big on religion as a whole, and certainly not Catholicism - but I think you're getting Nostradamus and Malachy (sp?) mixed up. I.E., Malachy referred to the late John Paul II as De Labore Solis, and the next one as De Gloria Olivae. The one after De Gloria Olivae is referred to as Peter the Roman, whose death is supposed to signal the beginning of the end, the time of judgement, and/or the Great Ka-blooey.

Either way, I'm moderately certain that we all have enough time to have another drink.

ummmm.....he WAS JUST A MAN....i.e. HUMAN. He breathed, shit, belched & died.....just like ALL humans!!! Sorry he's gone and spent so much of his life sick.....but he was just a fucking HUMAN!!!! The ONLY reason his sins weren't broadcast on the mass media is cause the Vatican made him rich enough to have PR men to divert that shit.

True enough, but he was the first Pope to have the balls to apologize for atrocities committed in the name of Christ & shit. He was the first Pope to visit a mosque or synagogue (I probably just misspelled both of those) & he apologized for the Catholic church not doing more to prevent the holocaust. Those were some very big steps for the church. Maybe the next guy will clean up the the child molesting crap & let preists be married again (cause they used to be allowed to). Progress is very good for these Catholic folks. They're long overdue.

And of course, being the Grand High Poobah of all Catholic Piety, all popes are thus accorded the privilege of being the center of mockery of the basest fashion.

As such, I give high props to the great papal smear, since we lowly sinners would have nothing to do on a Sunday morning if not for the Catholic misery - er, I mean, ministry.

Well, Catholicism is the biggest religion here in the US and prolly most of western europe. I think as far as christians go, he was one of the, oh, 5 genuine christians I know of. I think its very good he apologized for unchrist like behavior by the church and canonized a shit ton of awesome people. Of course I don't agree with pro-life sentiments of the church and other things and thats why I'm not christian.

But, christian or not, I can recognize an outstanding human being who did so much to alleviate the suffering of others like christ taught. And anyone who opposes Bush is cool IMO..

I'm glad he's not suffering anymore...

Yes, I will admit that the pope was a good man and that he did ALOT toward reconcilliation of past atrocities. I just get sick of hearing bout him as though he were god/the son of god.

Mebbe it was just because, as the pope, he was in the limelight, but what about everyday people that devote their lives to helping others and doing what society would call good things? No one ever hears about them when they die.

A good deed is its own reward. Praise is not necessary or desired for the really good folks.
